I am at my wits end i finished my IVA Nov 2011, then had the 12 month cool off period in that time I have sent the top three credit check agencies copies of my certs to show I am clear of debt etc... and they sent back the reports which looked fine to me, Yet I have just tried to get a debit card from my building society and have been refused as it went through equifax. I just don't know where to turn and how can I start to get myself sorted as all I have hit for the past 12 months is brick walls my IVA company took the money and ran and have been shocking with aftercare advise.
Welcome Lee.gh, did you apply for a card with one of your creditors included within your IVA? They will/might keep records longer than 6 years. When you say they look fine is there anything on them at all or are they clear? if your all clear and have nothing on credit then I assume nothing should be on them or is there some settled listings? (this will do it for refusal) What compnay weere you with? Once the IVA is settled then they have done their job however there are some that provide better aftercare than others fomr the posts i see.
Took The plunge and made the call, changed our family life and we have never been happier. Debt free and wont go back..... IVA was by far the best thing we ever did to teach us the real value of Family and money
Did you finish it on a f&f before the 5 years as your credit rating is shot for 6 years from the start of your IVA.
Some banks keep there own records longer although you say it is Equifax that was the problem, check the report again as someone might have put a default on which will need removing.
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine
That's a very good point from Sponge - Equifax moved my IVA to the Notice of Correction section. I only found by accident and had to request them to remove it as they had the cheek to say I'd requested it!
just as a quick look check noddle credit check it's free anything less than four out of five stars then there's probably something lurking around
I had a nationwide (and still have it)a cashcard plus account with a debit card during my IVA. A free very handy account with usual and online banking features.
However I was told even a standard flex account with debit card would be a no. So even now I can I've no need
I have a basic Nationwide account with a debit card. Have had this since before the IVA started.

Thanks everyone for your help I tried noodle but yet again no good because I don't ave a debit or credit card I can never process because they need that to enable me to continue so yet another wall
I found out that some banks have a monthly link with Experian if you hold an account with them, I bank with lloyds and despite them not being a creditor and the account being open well before the IVA they were aware of it through their monthly feed from experian. They basically check your credit file around the 22nd every month and complete a risk assessment of you hence even when your credit file is clear they are still aware of your credit history. Lloyds automatically add a credit policy decline marker which would stop any upgrades etc even when out of the IVA. It can however be reviewed in branch. HSBC are less sympathetic and when they get their monthly feed from experian and see the IVA they close the account. You may have more luck trying a new unconnected bank.

I have checked through the 3 reports and on one of them in NOC it says " IVA dated ....... Was removed from the insolvency service records on ....... Now would I be right in thinking this is what has lead to me being refused my dedit card and its needs to be removed from my CR. any advise pleeeeeease
Is that Equifax by any chance? If so you will need to contact them to tell them to remove it as it will stay on there until you do. I have no idea why they do this and it's very annoying as it's not obvious what they have done.
LOL how did you guess it was them, I have been on to there ask page and submitted it be removed, it's frustrating because the other two didn't put it on theres
