Well, I have just been sucked into the GT web after they purchased Tenon's book and was curious to know how they are generally. I know they are getting a lot of stick over closures at the moment, for one reason or another, but what are they like day to day?

Are they easy to get hold of (without pestering Karol all of the time) ?

Can you speak to your IP ? Mine is now Mark Allen.

How do they conduct the annual review and what do they ask for ? And, do they do it in a timely manner ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Hi Foggy

Mark Allen has been my IP since GT took over my IVA from Debtmatters in 2007. I have never heard from him directly, just a PP all the time he may even be Mark Ronald Allen but might as well be the scarlet pimpernell or the elusive butterfly of love.

Happy searching

I know Mark extremely well and he is one of the best IPs there is in the business. OK - he has a large portfolio of cases, but his office has a lot of staff who are able to deal with most aspects of his cases for him. I would not think that he would at all adverse to having a chat with any of his clients if this was necessary.

Maybe Mark could make a statement that can be posted on this forum on his behalf? There is a LOT of negative GT posts at the moment and the perception is that there is no smoke without fire!

Good. IPs like you Mel not only make the time to speak to your own clients but also to help so many more that are not with you.

I don't see it as asking much for GT to update their clients on the issues that are holding up their completion certificates, if not on forum then perhaps individual letters giving an update on the specific case.
7 years after starting an IVA I finally received a completion certificate from ClearDebt

They are quick to get you on an IVA but dont seem to be as quick getting the CC to you after all the hard work has been done

I think that while a lot of IPs can empathise with you, that unless you have been in the position of waiting to come to the end of your IVA and recieving that elusive completion certificate then they will never really understand it!

I am not a Labour supporter but will use Ed Millibands quote:
"They just don't get it!"

Hey foggy, GT took over my IVA from BE which I have to say I was happy with at the time. I think you know how many problems have had this last 2 years, having to buy 2 new cars & a baby! GT sent me a gorgeous bunch of flowers when I was in hospital having a difficult time with Leah.
My payment breaks were sorted by GT with one phone call or email. I've always had same day responses to emails & the staff have always been able to help me when I've phoned in. The annual reviews are pretty much the standard in the paper work required for a review. BE used to want pay slips in every 6 months, GT ask for mine yearly at review time now. Reviews are completed in the expected time required & i find the annual reports easier to read thsn BEs.
I've never spoken to our IP but then I never spoke to one at BE either.
I am Nervous about the completion part, but then that should all be sorted & back on track by the time yours comes round, I'm generally happy they took over our IVA.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

How refreshing to see some positive posts about this firm - I am sure the IPs and staff who work extremely hard for GT in Belfast will be pleased to see that a couple of their clients have taken time to share a more balanced approach.

Thank you all for your input. I was always under the impression that they were on the ball until the BE handover (which I think opened too many cans of worms).

I am, on a selfish note, hoping that the VAT and PPI problems will have abated by the time I approach closure and, if my ongoing experience is anything like I experienced when Karol took the trouble to call me, all should be well.

My second review (which will be my first GT review) is fast approaching, so I will see how that compares with the painless one of last year.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

GT took over my IVA at the start of year 2 after BE decided to quit. I have had no problems with them so far. I have had to phone them twice to get advise and I had no problems conveying my issues, both occasions resulted in Claire emailing me with how GT were to handle the problem and I found the results favourable and fair. My last I&E went well and was completed well within time, I sent off my payslips and p60's for my year 3 review 2 weeks ago and have already had all my paperwork back. I can only assume that the administration and scrutiny is taking place now and I will get the results post haste. The closure process is what is filling me with trepidation as so many are having a wait which I find exceptionally long and drawn out. I have 2 years left and really hope that the issues with PPI and VAT are well and truly sorted. I know these issues are not GT's fault but they do seem slow in resolving and closing IVA's. I would recommend them to anyone who asked in the same breath as some other companies.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

Case closures are affecting all of us right now - I had a very difficult conversation with one of my clients this morning who was very angry about my inability to close his case - but our hands are tied until the legal issues surrounding PPI claims are eventually resolved.
