Well i have always been a little unsure about mine, although i have a very good case handler at the moment so things are going better. Ive just finshed my fourth year so if my final year goes smoothly and i get my completion certificate through i will speak very highly of my company for ever more!! Until then i would say have a read through these posts, you will see a certain persons name pop up time and time again and she seems to be very good!!!
Personally I would go for the relatively smaller companies, and if I were to start again (oh, please!!!) I would be knocking on Melanie Giles' door. Another I would speak to would be McCambridge Duffy and Sam Hawkins.
These recommendations are based purely upon seeing the down to earth, straight talking, common sense advice offered on this forum.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
I also agree with Foggy, but GT (who I am with) are really good at administering an IVA and very poor at closing one. I believe that there ia a degree of failings in most IVA companies, it's just the bigger ones have more people to complain and be heard. Mostly it is how the complaints or questions are addressed that make one stand out from the rest.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues
Hi bricky7264, I have only started the process a couple weeks ago and I contacted Melanie Giles office. I have to say that they have been excellent with me so far: reassuring, caring and professional.
If you do a bit of research online like I did you will find that Melanie reputation is very, very good.
I am not with them but I would suggest Melanie Giles is one that you should speak to, but who ever you pick, speak to two or three companies and make sure that you feel comfortable with them.
7 years after starting an IVA I finally received a completion certificate from ClearDebt
I`m with Payplan and have always had a quick response to any questions. Also when our proposals were rejected by the creditors meeting, they got them through at the second attempt with some fine tuning so I`d say that`s a positive.
It`s hard to give much more advice because you don`t change IP`s like you might other things (I`m thinking car insurance etc) so on a personal experience level there`s no way to compare.
But you`re right insofar as it`s a big decision, because you`re stuck with who you choose for the duration. So I guess all you can go on is ask around like you`re doing, and feedback on the forum is as good a source as any. Good luck.
