Hi,
My 6 year anniversary was in June 2012. I received my CC in July after paying my last payment back in Nov 11.

I am now off the Insolvency Register. I have also been cleaning my Credit files up. A few incorrect default dates are being corrected. The problem is my IVA & how to get Equifax & Experian to remove my IVA record off my credit file. I sent a copy of my CC with a covering letter to each of the 3 CRA's. Noddle replied by letter to say they would be actioning my request & have now removed it.
Does anyone else know what I need to do to get the public record removed from my file?

Thanks

Vixster

some posters view on here is never try to clean it up after an IVA just let the six years pass on everything and it appears to just drop off. However those that have tried to correcting things appear to have the most problems.

There is a poster matrix or something similar who has got all the info and standard letter. I think you end up having to write to the information commissioner as a last resort.

It's a bit thin that you get this far and there's no real direction. You'd like to think that with your cc there would be a fact sheet, wot next, I'm not complaining they did a good job, but IP's appear to have no idea to the correct procedure on what to do, any takers?

Reapairing your credit rating just not so sure. As my bank manager said (I was looking for a full debit card) I don't care if it's all done and dusted it's still there. I won't even lend you a pen to sign it!

Me I've done nothing just waiting till year six has past I can check in about ohhh 6 weeks

Hi
Thanks for your post. I did wait until the 6 years had past June 13th I have only sent the letter in the last couple of weeks with my CC asking them to remove it. It just seems like such hard work to get it removed.

Hi vixster

Glad to see that your IVA is now off the Insolvency Register.

With regards to the credit agencies I have sucessfully removed the IVA from all three.

I managed to do mine by taking up the free trials and then using their contact forms enclosing a scan of my completion certificate.

Noddle were excellent as you say but Experian and Equifax took around a week to ten days to reply but once they did the IVA came off my credit reports within 48 hours.

I hope this helps and let us no how you get on.

Hi Stormsylv,

Good to hear from you.

Thanks for the update.

I'm glad to be off the register aswell another step in the right direction. I'll try using the contact form & scanning docs in. I did send them recorded delivery but as you say they take longer than Noddle to reply, so I may still hear something.

I'll let you know

You could also try calling them and asking them to remove the IVA, it should be straight forward because you are off the register they can verify quite easily.

I believe they only offer this service if you are a member and cost 5p a minute but well worth it to see the IVA gone for good.
I have the telephone numbers if you need them.

Hi,
I did subscribe to both Equifax & Experian as I wanted to keep an eye on my default dates.
I'll log in later to get the numbers. I'll give them a call tomorrow & see if I can get the IVA removed that way.

Thanks again for the info.

Raising the dispute will get the ball rolling.

I know this wont help you but once you get the completion certificate it's a very good idea to take the bull by the horns and write to the credit reference agencies to ask that the IVA is marked as Satisfied.

As you have found out unless this is done it can remain on your file for longer than 6 years, so well worth checking.

Hi Vixster

While I do say don't pick the scab getting the default dates sorted isnt picking neither is getting your IVA off your records. Six years from the start thats the law. Let the credit agencies do the work. They make money from storing the correct information. Raise a despute - copy the certificate and the attachments ask your IP to provide - and let them do the work. You have completed your IVA feel no shame. This should not still show on your records after six years end of.

An IVA will stay on your credit file for a minimum of 6 years. Though unusual a IVA can run for a longer period and will remain there until such time the CRA is informed of it's completion.

If it's not marked as completed, something has gone wrong, you have to let them know otherwise you'll end up with it on your file forever.

Hi all,

Just a quick update.

The IVA is now removed from Noddle [:)]

I spoke to Equifax & that has also now been removed [:)]

I spoke to Experian who were very helpful. They had received the Copy of the CC I sent to them. They said it may take possibly 10 days to complete their checks?. I did explain that I am now off the Insolvency Register it can't be too difficult but of course I'll wait.

So hopefully in a couple of weeks they will be a lot more tidy.

I still have one incorrect default date from a creditor Next directory on Experian & Equifax. Noddle is now clear. I did use the Matrix's template letter & sent it off 23rd July to the CRA's. The default date was 18th August 2006 should have been 13th June 2006. I'm hoping as the 6 years has just passed it will just drop off now without me having to resend anything more.

Will keep you updated.

Thanks again

not long for you now vixster

fingers crossed yor credit file will soon be clear

it does puzzle me how the agencies do not operate in the same way; granted they are all seperate companies, but they have the same data to deal with, although i suppose no matter how automated the process is, there must be a hell of a lot of info to deal with

good luck with it though and keep posting

Hi.

I found experian to be the slowest out of the three.

For the subsription they charge you would expect them to be on the ball but I have a sneaky suspicion that they like to drag things out to get the extra month subsription out of their clients.

There is nothing you can do as they have 28 days to update the records.
