I received one of these letters yesterday. Only having 6 payments to go it's starting to jingle my 'Spidey-Sense'. I hope it doesn't make a mess of the end of my IVA in terms of delays etc.

What's everyone's opinion on what would happen if I told GT that I didn't want to be bothered by Creditfix? Possible breach due to lack of co-operation?

I think I may have had PPI once about 10 years ago but that particular loan got paid off in its entirety at least a year or two before I started IVA proceedings.

personally i would not advise gt that you cannot be bothered as your proposal probably states that all asset's are to be realised before completion. If you feel that you ppi was not miss sold and that you wanted it, you can advise gt of this and they should not pursue it any further.

I got the letter and rang my ip to say we had already had a successful PPI claim which had put £10k into the pot, we have also looked into any other charges which we could reclaim and have exhausted all avenues..
They said Creditfix were not interested in PPI claims but were looking into unfair bank / credit card charges, they are doing this on the basis that prior to the iva we must have had an overdraft and we must have missed CC payments and there will have been unfair charges..
I told them that over the last 3 years we have had no end of cold callers offering to get us money back and we are sick and tired of it and that I did not want yet another company calling us and that we had already looked into the charges..
Personally I think we will get Creditfix calling us anyway and don't believe the ip will not send our info to them...

I've emailed GT today and asked for a layman's explanation of the letter's contents/repercussions.

I wonder if I've got to go through this with Melanie and her team, I might shoot off an email to find out and hopefully then won't delay completion.

Do you or are you expected to rememer who you had credit with etc,? I can't remember hardly anything!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Just received a reply from GT ivaclosures:

I wish to advise that we have received several queries with regards to the letter that was issued to Grant Thornton clients discussing claiming unfair bank charges through EIC. In response to this Grant Thornton will be issuing a post on the IVA forum explaining the letter in more detail and the effect it will have on IVAs including those in closure. I anticipate this will be posted by the end of today.

Hopefully a satisfatory explanation will be posted today, fingers crossed [xx(][xx(][xx(]

I am certain that I never had PPI on any loan or credit card I ever had, I made a point of making sure it wasn`t included in any agreement.

I suppose if anyone is absolutely certain that they never took out any PPI policies, then they must have the right to tell their IP that there is no point in investigating any of their accounts that were included in their IVA ?

I was the same Goosed. I can even remember telling a customer service assisstant at Alliance & leicester that taking out insurance was seen as gambling, and that was against my religion, to try and stop them hard selling it to me... LOL

Still had to allow my IP to do all the checking.
I can now do without.....

I can understand the need for accounts to be investigated to claw back any money possible, and in my situation it`s not a problem as I`ve still got 3 years of my IVA to run. It`s just unfair that people`s IVA completions are being held up when they`ve got so far for no fault of their own.

Shame that GT did not post as anticipated yesterday, hopefully they will be in a position to do so today.

I find it really strange that GT are using this forum to answer individual queries, I asked for clarification of the EIC issue last week and the e'mail answer (received yesterday) to my query said all would be explained in a post on the iva forum.

Unfortunately that post hasn't yet transpired so I am still no further forward.

All I want to know: is my completion certificate going to be delayed even further because of this new hurdle??

It's really frustrating when you can't get a straight answer to a relatively simple question [:(!][:(!][:(!]

It's a bit like the 'We'll call you back' phenomenon.

From what I have read on other threads this isn't about PPI but bank charges for missed payments etc to credit card and loans
