I have been in an iva since 2009 and ask questions on the iva forum very occasionally, however i browse nearly everyday reading quesiions and answers and I would like to say that if I had my choice again I would have chosen Melanie as my IP ,and no I dont have my iva with her company, there is a lot of people who post on here who are at their wits end and desperate and melanie and her team post professional and logical answers for people. Usually whats lacking from companies and some experts! empathy and sensitivity
I luckily found the forum pre-IVA so did go with Melanie. durig my IVA numerous problems always has made me grateful and acknowledge the professionalism of Mel's company. I am sure my IVA would have failed if Melanie had not been my IP.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
We're luck to have a host of professionals on the forum who give advice not only to their own clients but to everyone. They all give their time freely too and i can only imagine how busy they are. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
I must say I have to agree with you Julie. Had I found this forum in time I think I would have chosen either McCambridge Duffy or Mel's team (in no particular order).
Luckily the firm I am with have been easy to deal with so far, but rather distant and not easy to get responses to questions.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
I found the forum after starting my IVA and I was with McCambridgeDuffy. Little did I realise just how smoothly my IVA would go and after finding the forum I was VERY happy seeing all the positive comments and them being active here.
Last Payment - November 2011 - Completion Certificate received 2 weeks after last payment, Removed from Insolvency Register within 4 weeks after last payment.
I found this forum as I was going through the IVA process...so had already picked McCambridge Duffy....and like herbekj says, it is good to see so many positive posts about them in here, along with their own experts.
I have just had a F&F accepted, so I am extremely happy that I did make the choice with them.
Yes, totally agree with all the posts. I had the option of going with Melanie but it would have meant a joint IVA with my partner and I was keen to keep him out of things because it was predominantly my debts that caused the issues. Had this not been the case then Melanie would have been my first choice and her team gave me some really good sound advice. I echo all the comments of praise about her team and MCD as they are obviously really busy with their full time jobs but still find the time to help out massively on the forum. My hat goes off to all the professional posters on here without whom we would all be lost so a BIG THANK YOU to you all.
Take what life throws at you and hold your head up high. You're only human after all!!!
I luckily found this forum before the start of my iva, i also went with mel thank goodness as i was going to go with the same company as my friend which have had bad reviews on this forum, im just glad im in good hands.
We had already started out towards the IVA before finding the forum and that was only because Jan googled Mercers. Neither of us had ever been on a forum before.
To be fair, we've not had many problems with our company so far.
Thank you to all of you for posting really nice comments about myself and my firm. They are truly appreciated, because at the end of the day we are only doing our jobs and that we are paid to do - but if you feel we add a little "X Factor" I am pleased to see that feedback.
Seems to me that you and your firm and also McCambridge Duffy who in my view are fab, go the extra mile.
I think some other firms may be too big to have a personal touch (although not sure how big both mentioned are compared to others!).
I always used to try and remember when being shouted at down the phone that the person I am speaking to is in a desperate situation (benefit wise) and try to take some of the flak. Maybe your staff have that mindset and that's what can make the difference sometimes.
In Grant Thorntons defence, we are very lucky to have Karol on here and I would never deter anyone from using their firm regardless of any negative comments on here.
Well I was one of the founder partners of the McCambridge Duffy insolvency practice Kazza, in the late 1990's, so you could say it has followed me around!
Nothing wrong with a larger firm, so long as they provide good client service, and my staff work very hard to maintain those standards, because it repays us every single day of every week.
The comments are really appreciated and hopefully we can continue to offer a professional service. Providing information and a point of contact is very important as is the ability to speak directly to your IP if required.
