Paul: its not really going to help a great deal seen as our payments are 201 a month anyway. Our aim at the moment is to buy something in the 1000 price range, but really struggling to find anything & we need a family sized car too with 5 of us now!
The porridge eater is asleep!I've just been sat outside in the sun stewing over it, and your all right there is no harm in asking. As long as it does not mess it up, then I think I will have a chat with my hubby when he finishes work tonight.
Karol @ GT: if you drop in on this post: I hope you don't mind if I email you in the next day or so, thank you x
Npensioner: that comment really made me smile, thanks for your support with your messages on FB x

Lyns,
I think everyone else has a good point, ask it wont mess anything else up if they say no and you never know they might even suprise you. Fingers crossed...
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine
We have received your email and will respond today, with regard to a F&F offer please get in contact with me and I can go through all options with you.
Kind Regards
Karol
Hey Mrs Knight, very sorry to read about your car woe's. I think it would be a good idea to have a word with the trading standards about the car. The car should be fit for purpose i would have though, and to have so many defects which are that serious in such a short space of time does not seem right to me.
Wishing you all the best in getting something sorted.
Hi all - my payment break for next month has been authorized, thank you Karol the email came through last night.
I've had a chat with the hubby & it would be such a relief if we could have the IVA end with a F&F, I'm not getting my hopes up as we have no money to offer, only payments to date, will let you know how we get on.
I will be in touch Karol, just to have a chat about it - thank you for your help.
Baldy - I will be writing that letter to Trading Standards & Watchdog too ,I'm not just going to walk away from this, I'm disgusted with the dealer & I will be letting them know about it. We've lost £2000 in just 11 months, some of it my dads money & it took him ages to save it up - words can't describe how we feel.
Kev, the garage I use I trust them a 100%, they would not tell me it was broken if it wasn't! Im already fed up of seeing focus' older than mine was running about! The main issue was the excessive exhaust emissions leading to the conclusion after spending nearly 2 days on it, decideding it needed a new engine & the rest. I'm happy to send you a copy of my MOT certificate if you want to have a nosey.

Isn't it great how an IVA makes us fight.... I'm sure Mrs Knight, like a lot of us, if this had happened when you had the means (albeit probably a credit card) you would have paid it and walked away without question. Now not only have we learnt to do without credit, but we want our money to be spent wisely. You fight for your rights girl, no way could that car have been fit for purpose. I went through the same thing years ago.... didn't get all my money back, but got £500 from the garage that I got the car from as compensation. Good luck with your fight we are all behind you.
Nope you get a satisfactory result from this Mrs Knight......totally disgusting that you trusted a garage and 11 months later your £2000 out of pocket.
I've never bought a car from a garage in years but people I know would never buy "private" because they expect the car to be 100% from a garage, when all I can think is your buying a private vehicle with at least £850 added to the price for their service.
As with Kev I do the majority of repairs myself......mainly out of necessity and also my distrust of garages in general.
You should get some return if you sell as spares or repair.
Good luck.
PS. Not sure if your cars last MOT had any advisories (many sellers detach the advisory slip from the MOT when they sell the car for obvious reasons) but check out the DirectGov MOT site and check the HISTORY of the car (STATUS check will only tell you PASS/FAIL)......it lists EVERY MOT and also each "fail" & "advisory" point...may be of interest as you will be able to see if there was any problems already there that the garage failed to mention.

I came into this world with nothing and still have most of it left!
But any advisory notices are just that and dont have any impact on a garage selling a car. Yes you could point out that lots of known faults existed but it either passed its previous mot or it didnt.
Paul
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
For a car to have 9 FAIL points and 8 ADVISORY points in this years MOT and only 4000 miles ago (reading between lines of Mrs Knights initial post)I doubt very much it was in a very much better state of repair 11 months ago when purchased.

I agree with Paul that advisorys are just that - daughters car had several advisorys last year - she took it to a different testing station and it passed with flying colours this year.
I agree about the advisorys - OH's car had an advisory for 4 new tyres so he took it to get them done and was told he could wait. It ended up being 2 years before he had to have new tyres!
The car only had advisory's on the tyre depths - which we replaced 2 tyres in August & 2 in November as we got a puncture not worth fixing.
I've already checked with the DVLA on its history & it failed on 2 points the day before we purchased it. The dealer whom was a garage as well, used a different garage to do the MOT? Maybe I should of seen red at that point.
The Car failed on 9 points & had 7 advisory notices as well, but they were not just little ones. I trust the garage I use for MOT work etc, as it was recommended by my best friend who used to own it & knows the new owners well. I must point out the garage I use did not sell me the car, it was a dealer in Middlesbrough.
We no longer have the car as it was deemed unsafe to drive & there was no way I was putting my babies in it ever again. The car has gone to a dismantler rather than scrap.

Hi forum - I'm feeling a little fed up. Life with no car is becoming a real struggle & expensive, Just this week we've spent over £60 in buses & taxis'. There's no luck on the car hunt & we haven't got enough to get what we have in mind yet. Our payment break is next month so just waiting for pay day & then their might not be enough. We are very nervous a out buying another car after what's happened, lost total confidence in anyone.
I sent a email to GT enquiring about a considering a F&F payments to date, nothing's come back yet. I'm starting to worry about what I've started as I don't know if I can deal with the stress & worry, but with everything that's happened we could do with a fresh start & move forward now.
We've had written confirmation of our payment break, we had 11 payments left & spreading the missed one over 4 months so it should be 10 payments to go from July to April, yet they now have our last payment as June 2013, so that's 12 payments which is wrong. As last years payment break has been paid back. We had this problem last year, something went amiss when we were handed over from BE to GT. As im a horder & keep everything sent to me, I have proof we finish jn april 2013 & GT emailed me to say I was correct & would update their records. So looks like I've got to sort all that out again too.
Sorry for the rant - its all just getting on top of me x
