Matty I have been waiting 10 mths after F&F and I have rung/emailed both IP'S and customer services as suggested with IVA FORUM on here but still nothing. I am now keeping all emails (NUMBERED )etc so when I make an official complain to GT I have copy's of all correspondence that I have sent them as proof to show how many times I have been ignored by IP'S & Customer services. Never once have they connected me to keep me updated off there own back.
Good luck

It's so frustrating for you all to be waiting so long without any communication. I don't know what to suggest when emails and calls go unanswered. The complaints department could be your next port of call but it seems such a shame as GT have always been so well respected and thought of until recently. A couple of our experts know the GT IPs; perhaps we can persuade them to come and answer a few questions???

Prior to my final payment I requested clarification from GT of the closure procedure and received an e'mail highlighted in bold below;

I have completed my final I&E and my review was completed within the 6 weeks stipulated

I am just waiting now to see if I receive my completion certificate within 6 months (September 2012)

I think the e'mail is a clear and concise explanation of the closure procedure, up to now GT have completed everything within the time limits set by them, I accept 6 months is a bit excessive but if they meet their deadline at least I know exactly where I stand, FINGERS CROSSED [?][?]

I have reviewed your file and confirm following the acceptance of a formal variation held in July 2011, your IVA is scheduled to complete at month 60th.
As a result the Final IVA payment will be March 2012. Once this payment has been made it would my advice that you contact Customer Services a couple of days later, to confirm receipt and to ensure your case can progress for closure. You will also be instructed to cancel the mandate accordingly.

At this stage your IVA will be passed to the appropriate department to commence the closure process. Please be advised this typically takes 6 months to complete.
In recent weeks there has been a "hold" on the closure process in light of the recent VAT Tribunal. Cases were continuing to be progressed as far as possible while we sought guidance from our regulators and legal advisors.

After much discussion on the matter we have now removed the "hold" from closures.

You are required to complete one final Income and Expenditure review before completion to assess any additional income, if any, earned in the past 12 months.
After the final payment has been made you would not be required to pay an additional monies from this point onwards to the IVA but should overtime/bonus/commission have been earned up to the final payment, this would be payable before closure.

Throughout the closure period, should you be subject to windfalls such as lottery wins, tax rebates etc you would still be obligated to inform Grant Thornton.

I hope this answers your queries/concerns however should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact Customer Services on 08448552166.
IVA COMPLETED ON THE 17th MARCH, FINAL I&E COMPLETED 26th APRIL, COMPLETION CERTIFICATE ARRIVED 2nd AUGUST

2nd last paragraph isn't very well worded. You are obligated to inform GT,doesn't say anything about paying any windfalls over.

Ppi reclaims doesn't get a mention either.

Hi all
I am now going to go down the road of Complaint and on further if I have to, as I have just got hold of a customer service rep with still no closure date -The Customer Services Manager was sent am email from them on 30/04/12 to contact me regards my C&C and still hasn't answered. 5 emails last week (1 Direct to my IP last Tuesday) )were sent (copies kept)And a final phone call today.Still none the wiser
I feel they were quick to ring me before on matters but don't seem to give a damn now, I even had to ring them and ask for a receipt for the F&F PAYMENT
Really down about this I just want an end to this part of my life and move on .Can't they understand this??

I never had any PPI so that doesn't affect my case.

As for the 2nd paragraph being badly worded, I assume if in the unlikely event I did win the lottery the IVA 'windfall' clause would be invoked, my understanding is; even though I have met all my payment obligations I am still bound by the terms of the arrangement until my completion certificate is issued, or am I missing something?

Hi Ducky,

Can't say I blame you making a complaint. I still haven't received an email regarding update as promised early next week. It is causing more stress & I wonder if they do realise. It is now over 6 months since our final payment & I would be satisfied if they emailed to say my CC would be arriving at the end of this month. Is there a certain day that GT distribute monies to the creditors & issue a CC???? How difficult can it be for the Closures Department to inform Customer Services of these details. Karol if you do read my post please please email to advise.

Hi all,

I havn't got anything really positive to post. But I did call Customer Services this afternoon. I spoke to a really nice member of staff at GT. She was understanding & polite. She was able to tell me that they hadn't received a reply back from the Closures Department with regards to an update but could tell me that 2 requests had been made. She did say that Karol will be in touch as soon as she receives an update. I know GT closures are really slow & getting us all down & that's not helping us. Karol is the Customer Services Manager there & she obviously has a team who work along side her, but I'm not sure how much input she can have within the actual Closures Department. It may be the type of firm where people frown upon you if you try & tread on their toes. So they have to send emails & wait for an answer?? Who knows

Hi Vixster,

Not 100% sure if GT release CCs on certain days of the month, all I can say is when I received mine there were 3 or 4 others on here that also received them at the same time. My letter and CC was dated 26th April and I received it in the post of 27th April.
IVA finished Oct 2011, CC received 27 April 2012, No longer on Insolvency Register 01 May 2012. Jan 2013 - all Credit Files squeaky clean :)

Hi ladybird321

Thanks for the posting. Let's hope mine is soon. I would be satisfied to be told to expect it around 26th May if I can't have it sooner.

So pleased you got yours & even better to see you are no longer on the Insolvency Register.

It really is for Karol to deal with the GT related posts on the forum. I personally do not understand why under normal terms it takes up to six months to close a case, but I guess each firm has their own ways and proposal terms. Hopefully Karol can give some clarification on this matter soon, as this forum seems to be flooded with the same issues which is detracting from other people's genuine queries which I feel are usually answered very well. This is a great shame.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

You're not alone there Mel, I don't think anyone can understand it.

More than understanding it though, I would like to know if it is in breach of SIP 3 which states that "the Supervisor should conclude his administration as expeditiously as possible".

All IPs are required to follow the guidance laid out in SIP 3 and therefore they must all have their own view of what this paragraph really means in practice.

Without directly criticising another firm, are any IPs prepared to tell us what they understand by this guidance?

I'm obviously not an IP but I am a Senior Manager for a professional services firm and have to comply with lots of guidance and regulations and my personal interpretation of this would be that a case should be closed within 3 months unless there are exceptional circumstances. (Just for reference the Oxford English Dictionary definition of expeditious is "done with speed and efficiency").
Completion certificate received 31 March 2012.
