Next payday will be the start of the rest of my life as I have made my last payment of an extended IVA term today.
For those just starting out, stick with it. yes the early days can be tough and i think ive posted before about times when I hadnt budgeted well in some months and had never been so skint since a teenager, but then i had lived on crredit cards for 20 years and so forgot about the meaning of money.
ive got strange feelings though. immediately after confirming earlier today i was all paid up i felt extatic and am looking forward to getting my life back, even though I cant do this till i next get paid !
Equally, im happy to live life without the need for credit, althoug I do have a desire once my completion certificate arrives ( yes another 3 - 6 months i believe )to see my credit file cleaned up again. not sure why, but like may posters having gone from a near perfect credit history for 20 years and then seeing my score dissapear. Im not ashamed, but certainly regretfull of where I was.
Thanks to all at DFD, who helped me when my income took a 50% drop 4 yrs ago ( hence the need for an extension in term, but it meant I avoided bankruptcy )
I will update all on how long completion certificate takes

I wont change my name just yet, as it could well be 12 months to go before i get my completion certificate.
As for opening a nice bottle, I went out for a friends bday 2 weeks ago and so my contingency was drunk then and if i told you how much I have left till i get paid you would probably have a whip round for me !!
Dont want to sound smug , because in bad times particularly in the early days I loitered around the reduced section in Tesco desperate for reduced food items i was so broke so havnt forgotten the early days when I wondered if i had done the right thing and also felt I would never make it to the end.
good luck all and in time you too will get to the end, even though some times you may think otherwise.

Well done on reaching the end and good luck for the future.
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt
The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

I can't wait for my turn! I love hearing about people completing as it reminds me there is life after debt so I don't mind people 'gloating' about holidays and disposable income. We all have all this to look forward to!!
