Well...just paid my 50th installment...only 10 to go now as I'm not a homeowner. Five sixths the way through but time is still dragging like syrup!
Reading the many comments on various benefit articles on the BBC website gives me very mixed feelings.
Sadness: as a lot of people now seem to be on the edge financially and will have a very rough time as soon as the benefits chop kicks in properly. Tax Credits reduced significantly and soon Child Benefit to go for some.
Relief: That my own finances are under control (continued employment permitting) and in 10 months I will be free. My current IVA payment is approx 1K per month. You can imagine that I have very firm plans for saving up from that point. A little flutter the first month post IVA maybe but after that...hard savings. My family deserve more security after the last few years hard slog and worry.
I wish everyone on here just starting, in the middle or finishing/finished the best of luck in these difficult times.
Well done on getting this far komakino, hopefully the last year will speed up for you,
What a nice sentiment to treat your family for all the hardship they have gone through, and I agree about saving I think that is a lesson we have all learn, part of the rehab of the IVA.
We are in the same situation as you renting a home not buying so ours will finish at month 60 as well. We have another 3 years to go yet though we are just at our 2nd review stage.
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine
Well done on reaching this point. The months will fly by. We haven't quite managed the savings part as yet, despite finishing last year. This is due to the amount of work needed on the house and cars etc.. but at least these are being paid for and not on credit, which is a great feeling. We also have a couple of short holidays booked too, one of which is to celebrate my 50th later in the year. I am sure once we have covered the work on the house, then our savings can begin in earnest.
Wishing you all the success for a debt free future... won't be long now.
Well done on almost finishing, I'm sure the time will fly by.

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

Thanks everyone. I'm don't drive so I'm not one for cars and I'm not really into holidays in the sun either...perhaps a weekend in the Lake District though!
It's difficult in hindsight to see exactly how I got into the mess in the first place but never again.
It will be strange for you when you have finished and you plan your next months budget, then wonder why you have approx £1k still in your bank account. Ours was just over £900, and I kept having to check the figures, as at first as I couldn't understand where it had come from... soon remembered though and wow what a feeling that was.
that must be a wonderful feeling, it's nice now to see a plus figure in the bank but when it's the whole IVA payment too well now that will be a real bonus. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
congrats in getting this far....its great knowing ur nearly there.my last payment is june , its been a long haul but well worth it i dont know what i would have done without it or the great team at cleardebt and this great forum x
