Hi all.
I lost my job in Sept. Since then we have been making token payments towards our IVA. My jobseakers allowance will stop this month and our tax credits finish in April. We are due to finish our IVA in Jan 2013.
I have been searching for jobs but I am having no luck at all. I am suffering with severe depression at the moment and really cannot see any way out of this mess.
I am waiting for my IVA company to get back to me but I really do not hold out much hope.
I just don't think Ican carry on anymore.

Hi, you really are having a rough time, could you suggest to your IP that you offer a 'what's paid to date' final offer, or a total payment break for 6 months to get yourselves sorted. Things may seem clearer in a couple of months but you need those months to make it happen.

Please use the forum as support, don't feel alone. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Thanks for the support but I really don't know that it will help. It will take a lot longer than 6mths I'm afraid due to the circumstances that I lost my job (I was dismissed for gross misconduct)
I am in the process of trying to prove my innocence at the moment and I have a solicitor working for me but it is difficult against a major company tht just sees people as a commodity. They have ruined my life with their false allegations and just cannot see that with the procedures that are in place in the company that it would be impossible for me to have done what they alledged.
I just feel that it is hopeless.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

So sorry to hear of your problems, and I do hope that you find a job soon.

Hopefully your IP will be able to assist you as you are close to the end. It maybe that they will be able to put a variation forward to accept the payments you have made to date as a full and final.

Hi DDD,

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine was in an iva and was used as a scapegoat for a situation at work, and this resulted in him getting dismissed. he immediately informed his Ip and requested a 3 month break, which he was given.

He fought it, to no avail, and did find it hard to get another job for a couple of months afterwards, thing is he couldnt get job seekers etc as he was fired, and he became very depressed to the point of being suicidal. In the end, he decided to start a new chapter in his life by changing his career to become a carer and they put him through funded training while he was working there, and he has just started his management qualification for care home management.
He is now earning a better income and has paid in extra to make up his shortfall for the time off.

There IS light at the end of the tunnel and you WILL get it all sorted out. Sometimes having many issues make you address what is important and gives you the boost that you need to pick yourself back up.
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!

Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA :)

Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!

How long have you been in your IVA? It may be possible to get it closed by a successful completion on the basis of the contributons you have already paid to date.

Hi thanks everyone. I am waiting for a call back from GT today. Melanie our Iva is due to finish in Jan 2013. Have paid 4rs so far. Our payments started off at £320 then went up after the first few months to £405 due to pay rises etc.
I really hope we can come up with a solution soon otherwise I really do not know what will happen. At the moment our household expenses are leaving us hardly anything for food etc.
