Well not really an emergency but it will be soon if I don't do something about it. I had a terrible leak going behind a kitchen cupboard for months and knew nothing about it, anyway got a plumber in a few months ago and it was fixed, but now there is a slow leak again. I just know it's going to cost the earth, sadly don't know a reliable plumber, if it's hideously expensive would I qualify for a payment break? It's so bad it's starting to rot the plaster a bit [:(]

I'm loathed to have a payment break but it is probably the only way I'll manage to pay for it

That's not good fi. I know how you feel.though as we've just had problems with our boiler and had to.take a payment break to pay for it.

Hope it doesn't cost too much.

I would ask fi. If you leave it then you could end up with a more expensive problem to fix.

Did the plumber who fixed it give you any sort of guarantee as if it was only a few months ago it should be covered by it.

for any work where we need a trades person we always use the website 'rated people'. Its like trip advisor work work men etc, great website and anyone with bad reviews are investigated and removed from the site.

I know this isnt much help for the money side of things but hope it helps in the future so you dont get ripped off by a dodgy cowboy!

I would definitely ask about a payment break before it gets any worse and causes some permanent damage to the plaster and surrounding areas. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

you could always contact british gas as they do a one off fix for £50 or join one or their homecare packages that you pay a small sum monthly but covers boilers pipes etc etc maybe worth a phonecall

aw thanks for the offers all, no I live in Farnborough Hants.

I might ask for a payment break next month cos of this will see.

Sadly the plumber who came and 'fixed' it last time I wouldn't trust, basically he came 'fixed' the leak and within 1/2 hour I had to call him back cos suddenly water was gushing down the walls, he really should have done that for nothing as he'd moved a pipe but he charged me [:(] The thing is I've found since my husband has his accident and is disabled people actually try to rip us off more it's awful really! I mean I'm pretty handy with most stuff so I would try myself but plumbing can go soooo badly wrong can't it!!

That's really bad Fi.

I hope you can find a reputable plumber. I think I'd have been inclined to report the previous one to Trading Standards!!!
