My IVA began on 23/11/11 and at present I live with my parents. However, being 31 and being told I shouldn't let an IVA put a hold on my life, I am keen to move in with my boyfriend.
He has a perfect credit file and we are not financially linked in anyway. But I am worried that if we approach a letting agent they will take one look at me and my situation and refuse us. Is this likely to be the case? Or would they accept my boyfriend as having sole responsibility for paying the rent?

Dreaming of the day that I'll finally be debt free!
You dont have to all be named on the rental paperwork if a family rent so pretty sure you will be fine if only he applies. You could always just live in a tent in the garden!!
Paul
ps sure it will be fine for you to live there too!!
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
Yes you can live there but he would have to be credit worthy for the whole of the rent and bills through the letting agent and he would have to declare you living there for council tax purposes so he doesn't get the 25% discount wrongly. Only he would be protected by the rental agreement and likewise only he will be tied into it
I would be careful paying him rent officially due to sub-letting clauses I'm his contract but you can find out about that. If you have good references from past landlord they could accept you anyway with a large deposit or a guarantor
My circumstances were slightly different but we moved whilst I was BR. Due to my circumstances we wouldn't have got a mortgage if I was named so everything was done in his name.
Daveyboi makes a good point about paying rent to your partner. I've never contributed towards the mortgage but I've paid my share of the bills and I've always paid for the food and housekeeping so maybe you could do something like that.
