I wasn't allowed to cancel it - I kept trying but couldn't.

Sammy - as long as you've cancelled it with the Co-op then they can't take it from there - they won't know the account number. They will keep taking it from your Natwest account though.

So Natwest can't re-instate the loan direct debit at the co-op bank if I cancelled it with the co-op bank. Thought my co-op bank details were shared with the Natwest loan team in order to set it up?

I transferred my dd's to Barclays and then cancelled them and nothing was taken from Barclays, just from HSBC.

When you switched banks you inadvertently transferred the direct debit over with you so yes they probably are aware of your new account but if you cancel a direct debit with your bank unless you call the bank and re-instate it then it remains cancelled. If Natwest try to re-instate it from a previously signed auhorisation by yourself it will be invalid as your new instruction is for it to not be in place. You could also contact co-op and say I have currently not authorised any new direct debits and none are to be authorised on my account and get it placed on your notes.

So long as nothing will be taken from my co-op account where my wages will go in. I remain un-concerned about whatever Natwest want to do with my Natwest account, because I assume it will all be covered in the IVA. Thus Natwest shooting themselves in the foot!

Why do you people make so much sense [^] I know that's because I am not seeing sense at the moment and just awash with panic!

Your Co-op account should be fine.

Cancelling a Direct Debit
I cant remember that much about what I did with my bank at the time and have tried to erase those months out of my life

I was told via my ICA company to get a new bank account asap and thats what I did I transfered all my ins and out from my old bank account to the new one that were just my salary and insurances etc

My new bank ser up everything for me and told me they would sort everything out I signed some form to allow them to do what they wanted and I was told to make sure my works payroll dept were updated with my new account which I did in person

As my bank loan was a hefty amount I paid a quarter as I thought It was the best way in case it all went wrong at least it would keep them quiet I thought
It mattered not 1 Jot and would have been better in my pocket than theirs
After that it went all A Ok with the IVA and never had any problemos at all
I do use my old bank somethmes to get money from there ATM as its handy and cock a snoop at them when I walk past for all the crap they put me through anyhoo I won in the end

PS I paid the bank a quarter of the monthly amount
and as above once you cancel the DD they have no rights to authorise it without your permission
Also if you do as I did and empty the account then all they are doing is using there own money to pay themselves
Your setting the IVA up now so forget about them look after yourself

HSBC used their money as well as my account had been transferred but they wouldn't allow me to close the old one.

Everything was just included in the IVA.

Sammy

When you change to your new bank account they usually drag and drop everything from your old account
Call into your new bank have a word with them and they will block it while you are there Check that everythings ok on there system and the DD are the ones you want to keep
Tell them you do not want any further DDs at this time and you will be ok
They need authorisation for direct debits to start from you
