Agggh just wanted to let off steam. We had arrears on our Gas and Elec which have both been included in our IVA. British Gas were also one of the creditors who accepted our IVA proposal. I have been watching the accounts online as I know that BG close the old accounts and open new ones. Yesterday we received a letter threatening to take court action and cut us off for the electricity supply. My husband called them 5 times, I know that the call centres know nothing really but you do feel that you need to try and do something. Then later yesterday they closed the gas account, transferred the payments we had made post IVA acceptance and we have a new gas account Yay! But they have left the electricity account alone. And when husband called they said they had nothing in connection to the electricity account.. AGGGGGH. Needless to say we will ask our IP to call them on Monday to point out their error but I did wonder if they are breaching the terms of our IVA by continuing to send us aggressive letters (understand that these are probably computer generated). Thanks for the rant! Feel better now...almost.

Rant all you like!!!!

Glad the gas is sorted but I've no idea about the electricity side of things. Perhaps they are going to leave that as it is????

They shouldn't still be sending letters though so do have a word with your IP if you are concerned.

Thanks Jan.

The electricity debt was also included in the IVA. It's all there in our report. I think it must be an oversight as if we paid it (which would be nigh on impossible right now :)) then we would be breaching our IVA? I guess I just don't understand how they can do one account without the other. I will get our IP to call them on Monday, she already called them in December regarding both accounts.

Car1e - it can take a few months for these big companies to update all the computer data (modern technology - don't you just love it) - noted that your are 2 payments down - if concerned speak to your IP - other than that chuck the letter in a corner

Thanks Ginger. I know it seems such a trivial thing but trivial things seem massive right now! We need electricity obviously but more so to dry the house out [:D]

Hi Ransonkate, yes we included British Gas and also our Water authority just contacted us saying they would be contacting our IP for the amount and has given us a new account number...and also Council Tax. I have read on several debt solution provider websites that utilities cannot be included but we have done so on advice from our IP and with the exception of British Gas all has gone smoothly.

Yes I know, am hiding right upstairs in one of the only rooms that we can use. Still..if I can make this room beautiful at least it may act as a sanctuary of sorts!

Hi Paul yes they have for the gas account (elec still pending). I will go in today and change it back online. They have put us onto the Standard Tariff. I expected them to do it because I remember reading something that Kazza posted ages ago about going online to change it once the accounts were transferred(Good old Forum!) I will also need to re-link our nectar card as the points soon rack up with the amounts charged for elec and gas.

Thank you so much. I confess that unless I had read it previously on the Forum I wouldn't even have checked/known that they switch you back to the Standard rate. By they way many congratulations on making your final payment, you must be delighted to now just be awaiting discharge.

Ho hum I cannot change the gas to energy smart/different tariff etc until the elec is also transferred over. Obviously because we had a dual fuel account and although the gas has been closed and a new account opened the elec is still pending so am stuck on Standard Tariff for gas until they change over the elec. Then can do as a dual fuel.
