I spent 4 months in southern Iraq and a large portion of my time was used up begging to borrow heavy lifting equipment from the US marine corp!!!

Plus their ration packs are better(even have tabasco sauce in them!!!)

Stay safe Paulf, and Susie, I hope your cousin comes home safely.

Foggy, from what I've read that is so true!

I'm not sure we could ever pay our armed forces what they're worth, but we should be doing a lot more than we are. I always feel a little ashamed that they are sent off underpaid and ill-equipped to fight for the very government who are treating them so poorly. Good luck and stay safe everyone out there (or anywhere else)! x

I spent 24 years in the Army. Thank God I got out just as "the poor lambs" were starting to bleet to mummy about getting shouted at by the nasty Sergeant Major! I enjoyed my time and would do it again, even though the "benefits" were appalling.

Good luck Paulf, hope your deployment passes quickly and safely.
It's been a long road getting from there to here but it's been worth it!
