Sorry in one way that he has lost his job but it does mean that you will have quality time together now.

I really hope that everything works out for you and please keep posting so we know how you are.

I was going to say sorry he's lost his job, but it sounds as though it could be a good thing for you and your children.

Good luck, and please keep posting x

To be honest, after weighing everything up last night, with the current situation the MOD is facing it can only be a good thing. He was due to go to afghanistan early next year and now he wont be going! That more than makes up for his redundancy in my eyes. We are not by any means expecting the road ahead to be all newly laid, but we will try to dodge as many pot holes as possible :-)
I believe strongly that we all follow our destiny, must admit this one has had a few sharp bends :-) but we can see the finishing line now and I am just relieved to know we are almost there. Thanks again everyone! Will definately be posting again soon xxx

At least you won't have to worry about him there!

Hope he can get a job sorted once he has totally finished.

Good luck - sounds as though are finally getting sorted for you.

What a relief it must be for you all, and it sounds as if denstiny is in your favour at the moment... I have always believed that the path we walk is the one we are meant to, and that life is mapped out for us, hence what will be will be. With the government and the country's status as it is, being made redundant is probably for the best in your husband's case. I work for the public sector and am begining to wish they would make me redundant... at least I would know where I stand.

Anyway back to the congratulations and wishing you and your family all the very best for civvy street.

Thank you so much everyone :-)
Hubby has just been on the phone with GT and they have agreed to stop the IVA payments from now until he receives his redundancy pay in March! And then we have to pay over 37,910 for 100p in the pound. I cant tell you how good it feels to be able to pay back our debts in full!
Just cancelled the standing order :-) feels strange not to see it there after 48 payments :-)
Hubby has even been offered a job doing the same as he does now by the civi firm that work alongside the RAF boys! Granted it is for 10,000 below what he gets now but I will hopefully be able to make up the shortfall by returning to work. So fingers crossed things are looking positive.

For those of you who are continuing down the road or those who are just setting off, just keep heading in the direction you are and it will be over before you know it. The last 4 years have passed quicker than anticipated and have not been as bad as expected.

We will never forget the help we received from this forum and hope to be able to repay some of what has been given to us by popping in from time to time to offer words of encouragement if nothing else.

Thank you so much everyone, off now to bounce..... xxx

I am so pleased for you. Congrtulations to hubby on his new job, it may be less money but of course you are debt free now (or soon will be), so hopefully with you working too life will not be too bad. Seems like things have worked really well for you. Wishing you every success for yourself and your family.

Congratulations. Seems strange to say that for a redundancy but we know how awful deployments are and to tell your kids that there will be no more separations must be wonderful. Great to hear that your hubby has a new job lined up, Good luck for your debt free future together!
It's been a long road getting from there to here but it's been worth it!

Good news ( in a way). At least you have a road forward marked out now. Don't forget the shortfall won't be as bad as it first appears as you won't be paying any debts ( or an IVA).

Good to see that GT have taken a sensible and helpful approach too.

Best of luck for the future.

Good to see that you are all pleased with this outcome. To keep him safe from that foreign conflict, which for the life of me I continue to fail to understand, has to be worth £10k of anyone's money. Just hope that most of the people affected by these defence cuts will find new opportunities out there as well.

I took over a ten grand pay cut when I left the RAF. Treat this as a new chapter in life, its not as bad as they make you think it will be!!!
