brilliant news for you - am in the same position as not being able to have kids, but unfortunately we are not in agreement around adoption so I have come to terms with spoiling my neices and nephew....as others have said let your IP know and work out with your case worker exactly what benefits are available to you and then establish where financially you are - don't rush into anything too soon - time spent as a family will be the most important thing of all.
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt
There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !

Congratulations, I know how pleased you must be. I am an adopter myself and have a young child. It's very difficult if you are open as somebody suggested and asked for help some local authorities would see that as a negative, our certainly did with another couple I know. We were starting to sink when we got our little one and to be honest the arrival was the final nail in our coffin of debt, but we didn't let on. They made completely unrealistic demands but I went along with it as we had our dream. I wouldn't have changed it for the world and I wanted nothing to jeopordise us being parents. Some children automatically come with financial support usually for specific needs, our authority rarely gives an allowance. The matching process can be a long one but hopefully not too long. Save as much as you can and obviously once you have your children you would notify your IP and I would guess complete a new I & E. Good luck with a new and exciting chapter [:)]
We came with nothing, we leave with nothing.
