my nan said she would like to give my kids some money over the next few years for their future, which is lovely as we have no spare money to do this at the moment. my question is can i put this in their saving accounts (which my name is on) and will it be untouched if i am in an IVA? Does that make sense wouldn't want them missing out because of my mistakes with money?
Your kids will be fine to have money from your nan. I can't see their accounts being touched even if your name is on it.

Hopefully they will have a nice little nest egg by the time they are able to access the accounts!

My 4 (going on 40) year old is richer than us, thanks to doting relatives. We divide it between a trust fund, which he can't get at until 18 and a savings account designed for those big childhood expenses (ie .. if when he is in secondary school he wants to go skiing, he can pay for it himself !!)
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

My daughter is in that place we have all been - spending money like it is going out of fashion and then getting the letters telling her that DD's haven't been paid.
She knows what situation we are in but I think she belongs to the 'it'll never happen to me' brigage.
Been there, done that and got several T shirts!

We've all been there but at some point it catches up with us !
My daughter starts secondary school next year and have already been warned about the expenses that we should get ready for so this would really help.
I rather hoped that our situation had taught her a lesson - obviously it hasn't!!

Sometimes its good to make our own mistakes cos the sense of achievement when you fix it teaches us alot about how we handle these situations I'm sure age'll be fine with tour guidance and support.
I'd like to think so but she is a very strong person and does not listen to what we say so I doubt she will learn from us!
