Congratulations Spurs, that is great news. If you are able can you please let me know what was agreed with your IP.

We really want to start a family and know it would be easier to wait until the IVA is completed, but this could be 5 years away and at our age in life that would be leaving things late.

However, with no added income and in fact my wifes salary dropping I cannot see how my IVA could continue without a variation meeting. Are creditors sympathetic to something like this. I am currently paying a high dividend so even with with reduced payment they would get a reasonable return compared to others.

Any advice from exports would be greatfully appreciated.

I am no expert mole and this is just my opinion but I think you should go for it! 5 years is a long time to wait and life is too short. I do not believe that things such as this should be put on hold for fear of rocking the boat.
I am sure that when the time comes your IP will be more than supportive and would(and indeed should) help you out as much as possible!

I would certainly go for it as well, you should not put your life on hold because you are in an IVA and of course it may not happen straightaway anyway.

I'm sure you will have no problems with your IP or your creditors.

Hope it works out for you mole.

Congratulations Spurs, and Mole, I agree with the others, go for it. Life is too short to look back and think what if.

thats something that has been concerning me also. I am currently at the paperwork stage with my partner. But the main long term doubt for me, is the potentially waiting 5 years before starting a family. We've been together over 6 years- and in 5 years, I'll be 30- my partner will be 40.
How flexible are creditors etc with regards to this? its not something Im thinking of now- but the full 5 years concerns me

Creditors are quite flexible with this - go for it Cat, you can't put your life on hold!
