Can you just make sure you leave enough cash in to cover the standing order and remove the remainder of the funds to your new account.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to work out, the standing order is due to come out on the 12th so I may have enough time to set a new one up??

if you know the account details etc - you should be able to set one up on the new acount on line.
(but it may pushing it to get online banking details through - in time)
Best though as KAyKay mentioned - leave just enough money in old account to pay this Standing Order - once its paid cancel it and transfer this to the new account

You could have ago - about lack of information and communication - however if you look at all the joint credit agreements - you will find the joint liability clauses there. Unfortunately you may have to chalk this up to experience and discuss with you wife about the plans to deal with her liability. - and the best way forward

SO take 2 business days to set up so this can all be done by Friday 5th. Open a new account on line have details tomorrow or walk into bank & set up an account. Opening a bank account is very easy so long as you are on the electoral role. Just remember some banks limit FPS payments to £1000 so may take more than one day to move your money. Could still use BACS but at 3 days it's a real pain.
The road is 72months long starting September 2010.

This also happened to my wife. I started my IVA in Jan 2007 and included the overdfraft on my joint TSB account in my IVA.
For two years nothing happened to this account but then my wife started getting letters from TSB saying the account had been reactivated and interset started piling up.
This really was my account and she new nothing about the overdraft which made it difficult to deal with as TSB refused to discuss it with me. After a short while my wife received phone calls and letters from a company called AIC (Allied International Credit) chasing the debt for TSB.
They were extrememly rude and aggressive which caused my wife a lot of anguish.
My wife (bless her) managed to scrape together enough money to satisfy 'her share' of the debt and the rest will be paid by my IVA.
I think it is essential to sort out any shared debt as soon as possible after the start of the IVA. You dont' need further problems along this difficult road.
I also owe my wife a very big favour.
Final payment made Dec 2011.
Certificate of Completion arrived 26th Sept 2012
