I can understand you getting confused...after all it is a very distressing time for us all..... what I can't get my head around is that you appear to be wanting to get at your IP over a technicality in that he/she did not tell you the actually figures. If I was you, I would just be happy to be paying all I could back and the more I could pay back the happier I would be. But again that is just me. An IVA is NOT about getting as much of the debt writen off as possible.

one of the reasons I went ahead with the IVA WAS SO THAT i DIDNT HAVE THE STRESS OF communicating with the debtors. I trusted them and specificaly asked to check each one since i wasnt sure how much was owed exactly

But it is about presenting accurate figures in the first place, and clearly neither the IP firm nor the client checked this out prior to the proposals being presented. Well worth spending the time doing in all party's interests in my experience.

I hate messages in capitals!! I understand how angry you feel. I still don't understand how there is a £4000 discrepancy - a few hundres I can understand.
What made you contact the creditors though? I know my IP told me I shouldn't contact any of them through the IVA and I wondered how this 4k came to light?

Im not expecting them to write off the debt. I knew that from the start. I changed address several times over a period of four yrs and found it difficult to collect mail ,hence thats why I wasnt sure of balances. And thats what I thought MY IP WOULD REFINE. oH AND i did put that in writing and still email attachment.

I still don't understand what you are wanting to achieve here. Are you saying that you wanted them to check how much you owed, then if you could get away with not paying it all back, as you said, and I quote

"I mean If they told me I owe 11k and not 15K I would have negotiated myself and im confident I could pay back much less,"

you would drop the IVA firm after they had done the leg work.

At the end of the day, you are still not paying back more than you owe, as the title of this thread suggests. Once the Supervisors/IP fees are taken from you're payments, then you are still not hitting 100p in the £.

That's ok San - it normally means you are shouting and we are all trying to help on the forum!
I really don't know what to suggest here. If I were in your position I would probably just carry on and clear the IVA and become debt free.
I really doubt you could have had debts written off without an IVA, but that's just my opinion. I tried for 3 months before going into the IVA to negotiate lower repayments and was met with a no, definitely not.
The main reason I am happy to be in an IVA is the protection it affords. Yes our debt was huge compared to £11,000 and I am in ill health but for many it is the right move (though not for all).
Hope we have helped by being able to share your probs but I haven't got any magic answers I'm afraid.

KAYKAY. Thats just it. They havnt done the leg work . plus Im happy to pay everything I owe. Apart from my main creditor who I will make a PP1 claim against. As have thousands of other people. Oh and they are in court at the moment under investigation by the FSA. Iv been into there Norfolk Branch and one staff member put me in the picture. They are now closed for business.

Who is that then San? I would wait until after the IVA before claiming PPI as it would have to be paid over as a windfall (although looking on the positive side it might end the IVA early!!)

Ok, I now understand what you are saying.... afraid after all that, I don't know what to suggest as to whether anything can be done about them not notifying you that you owed less before the meeting. This sounds a little bit like "6 of one and half a dozen of the other" in terms of where the fault lies.
