Ok just a thought. An IVA stops on your credit file 6 years from the start date. If 2 years in to the IVA you move house and you don't apply for any credit. The IVA finishes at year 5 so you have been in the new address for 3 years. Now if you apply for credit they normally ask for your home address for the past 3 years so would the IVA not show as that was registered at the old address and for the past 3 years no credit application has been made to link the old address to your new one. Sounds confusing but do you know what i mean.
The reason i ask is in a few years i will be in this position and don't know if to try and clean my credit file and risk linking the 2 address or just sit tight.

But the IVA is linked to you regardless of your address, I guess the only way you could try and avoid what you are saying is by not registering on the electoral roll but that in itself would prevent you from getting new credit.

All your addresses would show on your credit file, mine still show from 16 years ago, it's only your recent payments for things like credit accounts, bank accounts, mortgage etc that show for the previous 3 years, when you apply for credit they ask for your home address and if you have moved in the last 3 years what your previous address was just so when they search they get the correct person, this is not the only information they will have at their fingertips though

It is linked to your name and not your address. Both hubby and me are in an IVA but my daughter has been able to get credit with no problems.

I think it might have to be Plan A Adders!!!!

I signed up for online access to my credit report, and was surprised to find that it looked squeaky clean, but I actually added my previous address, as part of the service was to check your details weren't being traded illegally, and what do you know, as soon as I linked my previous address, all the bad stuff suddenly appeared on my credit report!

They will link the names and details anyway - though the Elect Roll - without this being updated your are NOT going to get any credit anyway
