I have just sent all my paperwork for assessment and one of the documents was proof of income for myself and my husband. Even though the debt is nothing to do with my husband. Why do they need this information and will they want to know his income aswell as mine for the next 5 years. He is not happy about this as he has his own expenditure/commitments which are not included in mine. Is this normal.
It's just to make sure that you are both paying your way into the household finances. He won't be expected to pay anything towards your IVA.

Hi Janed123, I had to provide the same proof of income for my wife. Rest assured though, any overtime he earns etc will not have to be passed across into your IVA. Thats completely seperate from his affairs. best wishes Rich

IVA completed . Just started a blog, if you get chance please take a look. http://rich.blogs.iva.co.uk/
I had to provide details of my wifes income in my original proposal to get accepted but have had 2 subsequent annual reviews and not provided any details from my wife since.
The uncertainty and the drafting stage is the worse but, stick with it and perhaps try a few IPs if your current one is insisting on asking for something you doing consider reasonable. There is quite a bit of variance on how IPs operate.
Thank you for the replies, I havent actually spoke to an IP yet I'm not at that stage, i've just been talking to one of the support staff I suppose, I dont feel comfortable with her but I have to see what the IP says, I understand that once the paperwork has been checked I should get to speak to him and then get a court date. Its still early days for me. There is a clause in the paperwork that says they will charge me £250 if I decide not to go with them now to cover their costs so I cant really afford not go with them now.
They do have a good rating on www.iva.com so I shouldn't worry too much. If you are at all concerned, ring them and ask to speak to the IP. It may be able to put your mind at rest. At the end of the day it's a 5 year relationship and if you have any real doubts you should sort it now (I know the £250 would hurt but a lot of companies don't charge upfront)
Cleardebt do have an excellent reputation on here and Size5 who posts on here works for them.
I wasn't aware they made a charge if you decided not to go with them, perhaps Size5 can pick up on this and clear things up.

yes I did read some good reviews on Cleardebt, thats why I decided to go with them, I do feel they will help me I'm just not comfortable with the girl I've been speaking with. I did speak to another company who wanted 2 months money in advance but was adviced by Cleardebt that no money should be changing hands at this stage. I have checked my paperwork and the charge is for costs and disbursements.
It is a first to me but that must be the way Cleardebt work.
They are a good firm though.

It's all down to the individual case - most people have to provide a P60 - I've not sent one in yet.

Hi, if you have any problems or concerns then please feel free to call or e mail me off line, my details are in the experts section if you wish to do so.
The reasoning behind why you are asked for details of other income is quite simply to make sure that he has enough to live on as well as you, if he has other commitments then they will be documented on the proposal so that there is full transparency for all concerned.
As for the £250, I have taken the liberty of reproducing from our standard terms and conditions the part you mention " If after we have circularised your creditors with the Proposal and set the creditors meeting date you
decide not to proceed, we reserve the right to charge you up to £250 to recover the costs and
disbursements that we have incurred. There are no other charges."
In effect, you would have to agree with your draft proposal, sign your final proposal and then pull out once a creditors meeting was set to have any chance of incurring that charge, however I have to also say that I don't know of any cases in all my time here when we have actually enforced that charge.
Hope that helps.
Regards.

Thank you size5, this has been quite an experience for me this last week and since my paperwork has been collected I have not been able to speak with my contact as she is away until the 6th June and I have lots of things going round in my head at the moment. You should be able to answer this question better than anyone as you are part of Cleardebt. I just want to know if my husband has to produce evidence of his earnings at every review or is it just at the beginning. I really would like to know this.
