Hi - it probably doesn't help but everyone has the same doubts. It just seems to good to be true...but it isn't good things do happen! Payplan have some very good press on here so you can feel confident in your IP and your proposal x

Hi, Barra, and welcome. One thing you aren't, on this forum, is alone. There is plenty of support, help and advice freely available here ... and a few chuckles too.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

You'll never be alone as long as the forum is around. The advice and support are second to none and, as Foggy says, we have a bit of a laugh as well.

We also meet up occasionally for a bit of a natter.

Hi Mel
Why is it do you think that some companies such as Payplan and Cleardebt can put IVAs forward at 100 pounds a month whilst the vast majority of other companies would not entertain such a low amount ?

H Barbara2, just wanted to tell you we've all felt just the same as you, overwhelmed, frightened, ashamed, anxious, low etc etc, you really aren't alone.the statement is difficult,we've all had to fill it in so just be honest.

we've had some very threatening letters - i've posted here more than once in a blind panic. the board is a huge support so use it as often as you need it.

it takes courage to try and get this sorted. Kall who's posted is with Payplan &is very happy with them.
lot's of luck,big hug x

Excellent post Rosepetal.

The forum is a wonderful place for support and advice, doesn't matter how often you post or what you post about, someone will always be around.

Couldn't agree more in respect of the forum, many a good hour spent on here not only trying to help others but getting support myself for which I am eternally grateful. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Coming back to Andy's earlier question to me:-

I cannot really comment on the other firm's charging policies - but when I look at the work involved in properly supervising an IVA - including wage-reviews to identify uplifts, annual reviews, annual reports, the payment of quarterly dividends and regular ongoing dialogue with clients, and I equate that to the usual 15% fee on realisations, I cannot believe that anyone could do this profitably for £15 per month.

If they can, then good luck to them, and clients making enquiries to my firm with a lower disposable income than my current benchmark of £180 are referred to ClearDebt if they genuinely want to propose an IVA.

Hi Andy/Mel, I wouldn't like to comment specifically too much on the workings of the system we have as, quite frankly, I don't know enough on that side of things to be confident enough to do so. However, I can say that we don't like turning people away just because they can afford a little less than would otherwise be commercially viable. I do know that we operate a low cost model that means that, whilst we may not make a penny from such cases, or very little, we certainly don't make a loss on them. With the harsher guidelines that are being applied by the OR in cases of BR lately, low contribution IVA's may be a better way forward for more people than ever before, but we shall see.

Regards.

Hi. I've just come across this thread, still getting used to the forum!

@barra, we wouldn't put you forward for an IVA if we didn't feel you have a very good chance of approval. Although your IVA payment is quite low, you are on benefits and therefore I would assume your income is low. Also you have been on a DMP for a while now and as you said your debts have actually gone up with interest and charges ect... so your creditors will look at this as well.

@Andy as a rule we look at the minimum surplus of £100 or a minimum dividend of 10%. With the way things are at the moment, people have a lot less disposable income so we are seeing a lot more cases going through with lower surplus's. I am not sure why some others won't considered it to be honest!

Thanks
Lizzy.

barra-we have a savings account and you will be encouraged to open one just in case you can manage to put any surplus away for emergencies-so the answer is you can keep it.
Your bank account wont be frozen but if they are one of your creditors you need to move your account asap[:)]
