Hi everyone. My IVA was accepted today but the creditors want me to contact CSA regarding maintenance for my 17 year old daughter who is in full time education. My ex husband has not paid for her officially, just chipped in for school uniforms etc when she was young but sees her regularly and I try to avoid contact with him if I can so I know this will not go down well at all. My daughter is also talking about leaving college and looking at other courses...in fact Im pretty sure she will leave so do I have to contact CSA and tax credits if she does? Just don't want to go through all this if she leaves anytime soon and it won't be relevent.
You need to have this sorted out before the IVA is approved. Contact your IP and explain your concerns and request the meeting is adjourned to resolve it. Creditors do normally have standard conditions and this is one of them. However, standard conditions can be removed in certain circumstances and it should not be too difficult to have this amended or removed.
Was this a modification put forward by your creditors? I think it is something that you need to discuss with your IP. If your daughter is 17 then does your ex husband actually have to provide any maintainance for her now?

Thanks, the meeting was today though and it's been approved already. Ive left a message for my IP to contact me, I did mention that she may be leaving college in the near future, a couple of weeks ago and my IP said when she does to let them know, just did not think it would be so soon and now im stressing about it as I don't want them to think I have been mis-leading them
I beleive it was a modification, nothing like this was mentioned before the meeting. I understand if she is in full time education then CSA can demand payment up to 19 years old but if she leaves then I don't think they can, not sure so will just have to wait until my IP gets back to me but it's taken the relief of my IVA being accepted a little. Hopefully it's just teething problems

One of the experts will be on later to advise, but let us know what your IP says.

She asked me if it was okay over the phone when she told me my IVA had been accepted, and that she would send the paperwork out today. I always think of things after i.e that my daughter was probably leaving college within the next week or so, that's the problem but tried to contact her and left 2 messages but she hasn't got back to me today. I was just relieved at that moment that it had been accepted and didn't think of the CSA and leaving college link until after but rang within a couple of hours to try and clarify things...hope I havnt blown it
I doubt if you have, but speak to your IP company tomorrow first thing to sort things out.
