You must insist on speaking to your IP. If I had been paying for 4 years and was then told it was to be cancelled I'd be on their doorstep right now with every piece of evidence that I'd complied and I wouldn't leave until I saw my IP.

Please don't be fobbed off any longer!
Couldn't agree more.

I'm with Grant Thornton, so far I have been reasonably happy with them. Although in January I posted off our info for annual review and called them to check, they confirmed it had been done and would send out the paperwork on 4/1/11. I called yesterday as I still hadn't received it. They think 'it could be lost in the post'. Something I am very unhappy with. I have not disclosed to anyone the situation we are in and I dread a neighbour having recieved this. Recently I am not impressed with their service at all.

There is something that is just not quite right about this issue.

I know the partners very well at Grant Thornton, and both of them would be mortified to know that a client was being given the impression that their case would terminate due to a breakdown in communciation. This just could not happen and there must be more substance in this issue for them to be threatening to take such drastic steps.

E-mail me your details if you like - and I will put you in direct touch with the head of Client Service at GT. She is a lovely person and will be sure to want to help you.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

I've been with GT for over 2 years now and have found them fantastic. However this thread has made me a bit anxious about how easily things can go wrong and how important it is to maintain records of communications - something I'm not great at. I'd be distraught if after 4 years payments things looked like they could go wrong. I'm paying over 1600 a month and to think all that could be wiped away is unsettling. I'll be much more careful about keeping the communication tracking from now on. I guess it could just be that GT have offices all over the country dealing with all kinds of different stuff. Strangely although I live in London and would have thought someone local dealt with my case it's actually administered from Belfast. Hope the advice and support from the experts on here gets you sorted out soon and back on track to finish witin 12 months! Good luck

Grant Thornton are very reputable - one of the biggest accountancy firms in the world. There seems to be a problem here - possibly over a disputed review/ uplift - and it hasn't been resolved due to poor communication. I wouldn't think it is representative of GT or intentional, particularly as Mel thinks so highly of the guys in charge.

I too am with Grant Thornton and have never had any issues with communication breakdown. I can't believe they'd attempt to null your IVA in this way. They have always bent over backwards with me to keep mine running despite all odds. I think all IVA's are dealt with by their Belfast office - so I don't understand how thing could have gone wrong.
