Hi

I was just after someone confirming what I have been told by Debt Free Direct.

My Full and final was accepted at the end of October and I made the payment around the middle of November.

I was told at the time to expect that my certificate should take 6-7 weeks to come through. I emailed in December to see how it was going and was told it was still 6-7 weeks away.

I emailed at the beginning of the year just to see if I could hurry it along and received a call back saying it was going to be another 12 weeks at least and more likely back end of April.

Does it really take 6 months to complete an IVA from final payment ?

Comments would be appreciated.

I know that DFD clients have been experiencing delays in getting certificates.

Declan is back at work (or so we have been reliably informed) so hopefully he will be back on the forum tomorrow and can help sort this out. Otherwise, try emailing him direct via the experts section.

I hope he can help. One of the debts is a joint and several bank account that the ex is being chased for by the bank. The certificate, i am assuming, will sort my part of the debt and allow her to deal with the bank on the balance as opposed to them chasing her for the full amount. It is causing problems that needn't be their. Life has been hard enough for the last 4 years without this to be honest.

I don't want to gripe about debt free direct either because they have been ok with me. All I want is this sorting within a reasonable amount of time. I don't think that is a lot to ask. Six months, in my opinion, is unreasonable.

Six months is a long time.

As far as I am aware, once the joint creditor has your full dividend then your ex should be able to sort out the remainder.

Hi Gzzb
My full and final was accepted mid October however one of my creditors did not vote and until this week did not put in a claim, therefore it will take some more weeks for me to get my completion cerificate. Have all your creditors made claims?

What I have been told is that one of the creditors has made a claim that is different (by about 2k) from that which was agreed in my proposal.

This apparently is the reason for the 12 week delay

Hi

I made my F&F payment in Sept 2010 and received my certificate end of October. The delay in me receiving the certificate was because one creditor had not submitted a claim but was ok because my IVA company let me know but it should normally take about 6 weeks.

We always try and combine our Chairman's Report of the variation meeting with a closure report - thus issuing the Certificate of Completion at the same time. I am not sure why a closure should take any longer than this, assuming that the funds to settle were with the IP at the time of the meeting.

I got my dates mixed up, turns out I was being too generous to Debt Free Direct. The meeting was end of September think it was the 26th. It was paid 15th October ( I was given 3 months to transfer the funds but it only took a couple of weeks to sort the money ) So that means it will be seven ! months by the time its resolved. That can't be right.

Made my F&F payment at the end of December and I rang DFD last week to ask just how long I would have to wait until I would receive my own completion certificate, and I was told it would be 4 months - so it's a long way away but at least I know when to expect it and won't have to chew my nails in anticipation of it's arrival day by day....... I'll give them until May, but you never know - it might come early!

Hopefully Declan can pick up on this and sort you out gzzb. I would have thought that you would have heard something by now.

Hi All
Apologies it took me this long to pick up this posting. The certificate of completion is something which i am looking at closely. As a standard rule, we always allow up to four months from the last payment to issuing the certificate and in more times than not, we try and get it out much earlier. That said, there are instances where this does not happen and the client is lift wondering when it will arrive which is not good. What I would ask is anyone (especially GZZB in this case) to drop me an email with your details and I will chase this up for you and put the onus on us to ensure you receive it in an efficient manner. My contact details can be found in my profile under the experts section.

Hope this helps,
Thanks
