I'm so stupid and am now really worried. [:(]

I go along to a pay as you go gym when I can afford to and tonight I thought I was signing up to trial some new classes - just booking in for the next session.

Oh no, I was actually signing a consumer credit agreement and when I realised I nearly had a heart attack. Bursting into tears at the gym is not the way to look cool.

They gave me all the forms back - I think! They said the had. I have a white one with the actual signature and a pink and yellow carbon copy. Is this all of them and have I invalidated my IVA?

Hi Mrs Pish, don't worry you won't have invalidated your IVA.

I go to a gym on a monthly contract and never thought about invalidating my IVA to be honest, I make cuts here there and everywhere just to pay it but it usually works for me.

Hope you're feeling better now. x

Hi Mrs Pish,

Please don't worry. You won't have invalidated your IVA. I'm sure it will have been cancelled.

If you are at all concerned, contact your IP and also keep a check on your bank account to make sure nothing is taken out.

I think it would be very harsh to invalidate your IVA for a genuine mistake, after all you have realised and rectified the mistake.
If in doubt and it is worrying you, check with your IP.

no you hav,nt stop panicking theres normally 3 sheets to a form so i assume you have cancelled it and there is a 10 or 14 day cooling off period to cancel the agreement.

Thank God for that, thanks!

There is nothing to cancel I don't think. I got the forms back 45 minutes after signing them at 7:30 with an agreement with the instructor to pay her as and when.

If there are 3 sheets to a form then I'm fine as I have them all. It does say on the forms though that there is no right to cancel!

You hae absolutely nothing to worry about Mrs Pish - but the gym staff should have made it clear to you that they were giving you a credit agreement to sign. So many people get caught out on things like this, and sales staff should be more responsible.

I'm worrying now I've done wrong! I will get my copy out tomorrow and look, it's a years membership I know that much but only a minimum amount but I guess however much it is is wrong if I've signed one, I'll check it out in the morning. x

If you were to cancelthough would it be like car insurance and be an instant withdrawal. Thats not classed as credit is it.

Lesley - your IP will have no problem if you have entered into a gym membership agreement, being paid for out of your allowances.

Phew thank you Melanie, it's for 19.00 @ month and I only pay 9.00 as my gorgeous son pays the £10 on his membership and he does the same for my daughter pays £10 of her although hers is cheaper being a student membership. x
