HI ALL SHOULD I ANSWER PHONE CALLS WHICH ARE NOT FROM PEOPLE I DONT KNOW NOW SETTING UP IVA KEEP GETTING CALLS FROM BARCLAYCARD BUT JUST IGNORING THEM IS THIS THE RIGHT ACTION DO YOU THINK

It is up to you whether you answer the calls or not, it will make no difference to whether you are accepted or not. They will keep calling though regardless.

Can I ask that you don't post in block capitals Alfie? It's classed as shouting and is quite hard on the eyes!

Hi Alfie
The calls will continue whether or not you answer them. Personally I answered them and all but one co changed the frequency of their calls to weekly and I just updated them as best I could. My creditors meeting was 19th Oct and I have only had one call since then, just don't take them too personally

Hi, I have purposefully answered and returned all calls. I don't want them trying me at work and Barclaycard automated system drives me up the wall!.

I have been totally upfront with them and told them I am going into IVA. They can update their systems and it keeps them off your back for up to 10 days!.

It doesn't always keep them off your back. Mine never rang me at work as they didn't have the number and mobile calls I just used to terminate.

It is personal preference though. They will try and bully you into making a payment. It's also down to you whether you make a token payment or not.

I have been getting between 6 - 10 calls daily from Barclaycard.

I just keep my mobile on silent and ignore them all.

I wrote detailing my intention to enter and IVA and my IP has written confirming they are acting on my behalf. In the meantime they can keep ringing.

I don't want to upset myself by answering their calls.

If you're comfortable with ignoring the calls then continue to do so, I don't think there is a right or wrong as it's often said on the forum that it bears no resemblance to the outcome of the creditors meeting. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi Alfiej35. We had never missed a payment before we started IVA proceedings. We were really worried about the calls, but so far they haven't been too bad at all. They started on the day the first payment was due but that was because we'd written to them to tell them of our intention to enter an IVA and they were just acknowledging our letter. The missed payment calls started within 2 weeks of the missed payments. We are coming up to the second month of missed payments now. In our letters we asked if they would refrain from calling us at work and that we would always answer their calls on our home and mobile numbers. Every creditor we have spoken to has been very understanding, there have been no threatning calls or demanding of payment and all of them have put our calls on hold for 2 weeks and then call for an update and then put the call on hold for another 2 weeks. I was particulary dreading calls from Barclaycard, but we haven't had one single letter or phone call from them yet (I bet now I've said this they'll start!!). My advice is to answer the calls when you can and this should stop them from constantly calling you at home and work. Only one firm (Vanquis) has called me at work because they tried my mobile twice in one day and I couldn't answer it as I was at work. I was really upset and rang them on my lunch break and told them how upset I was that they had called me at work when I had asked them not to, they apologised and took my work number off the system.

It's not nice missing payments but know its for the best un the ling run. Will not answering the calls make it worse for us in long run should we answer now as all creditors have letters telling them about our situation

Hi Alfie,
Answering the calls makes no difference at all to the way your creditors vote so it is a personal thing as to whether you bother
