For some people it is the only option if they can't get a normal account.

I would never go for a paid for account unless it was the only way I was able to get full banking facilites - and that does apply to some people.

If needs must then I would but while I'm lucky enough to have free banking I'll take advantage of it. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I don't think that free banking will be around much longer for general consumers - so enjoy it whilst you can.

I will stick with the free ones while I can but will also shop around once they do start charging.

Even if they do start charging I'll probably stick with Nationwide - I don't like the idea of managed accounts, and no other bank will give me a full account for a few years!

On the information given on opening my bank account with Secure Trust it mentions that they are part of the Barclays Group...all monies paid in over the counter should be paid at Barclays.
I dont have a problem with £12 a month fees to be fair...and free banking will be a thing of the future. I have piece of mind that with this type of account...a top up Mastercard, no overdraft facility and no charge if a Direct Debit isnt paid, for whatever reason...I can
stay in the black, it's so easy. There are no hidden charges either and although I havent been charged as yet for a Cash Point withdrawal, this can apply to many other banks too. Skippy what's wrong with a managed account when it is you who are managing it?

I prefer to stay with my Nationwide account as well. I am able to manage that one by myself at no cost. I will probably stick with it even if they bring in charges.

At the moment, as long as I get free banking then I can't justify £12 a month to be honest.

I thought Secure Trust were an independent bank.

I did that with HSBC Paul, even though I didn't want half of the stuff they offered!

As long as I can access free banking then I will.

Some people do have problems with a normal account and so a managed one is the right thing for them.

Hi All
Sorry, not been on for awhile!
Just to clarify some issues about Secure Trust Banking, it is completely independent. The only affiliation with Barclays is that you can pay in to your account through Barclays but that is essentially where the connection ends.

Thanks
