Hello everyone, I am half way through my 5 year IVA and I have to be honest and say that it is a struggle that half my salary each month is taken for my IVA (I know it's my fault I am in this financial mess) I receive letters from other debt management companies telling me I could have been mis-sold an IVA and I want to know if I should trust them and call them? Help much appreciated, many thanks.

Hi Shelly,

Ignore these companies, they are only trying to make money from you.

If you are struggling with your IVA, you need to speak to your IP and see if you can reduce your payments. You might need to submit a new I&E.

What company are you with?

I'm with Payplan as well. Have a word with your case officer if you are having problems. They should be able to help you.

Don't touch any of these firms though.

I agree with Jan. Ignore these companies, they are like vultures preying on vulnerable people.

This pops up periodically on the forum, they seem to send the letters out in batches. I would agree totally with the other posters, if you're happy, carry on with your IVA if unhappy contact your IP without delay as often things can be done to help x

Thanks for your help. The letters have been binned! I've only seen this website today and have found the information so invaluable. On reading a blog, I created my own payment spreadsheet and it has been so satisfying that my April payment was in fact my 30th payment so well done me! I can see I will be spending quite a bit of time on here. Only 4 people in my life know about my IVA and I feel like I have joined a whole new world and I am not alone. Thanks everyone.

Yes it's a 5 year IVA. My last payment in 2012 will be 2 weeks after I am 40. My life really will begin when I am 40!

Shelly,

Well done for getting so far I am also going to be finished in 2012, in march. I will still be 30 and to be debt free at 30 will certainly be a good thing and then I will focus on the future and making things secure. I am glad you have not fallen for the bankruptcy thing, a friend at work fell for it and well its a shame is all I am gonna say.

Good luck for the future hun

Dave xx
