My IVA completed on 29th July and I'm keen to rebuild my credit rating.
I know one of the best ways to do this is to obtain a card and use it sparingly and pay off monthly.
I have just applied for a Vanquis card to do this as they are supposed to be easier to obtain. I was knocked back. When do you think I should try again?
My experience has made such a difference to my life. As a mortgage and Financial adviser I was wary of people with debt problems. However following my own experiences I have now registered as a debt adviser within my network, with my own past I feel I can empathise much better now. And of course its a different income stream too![:D]
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
Hi Robert and glad to see you are still posting. It may be a bit early to get a credit card as yours was a short IVA but your credit rating will improve as time goes on. The defaults and the IVA will slip back but your mortgage payments, mobile phone contract etc will stay and this can only help.
Sounds promising that you have registered as a debt advisor as the financial services industry is currently in the doldrums. Your own experience will prove invaluable and if you have any queries you can always post on here. Best of luck with this new venture and I am sure you will be very successful in it.
If you have things like a mortgage, bank account, mobile phone account, these things will help build up your credit rating.

Hi Robert, give it a few months before you try again, I know you want to get your credit rating back up sooner rather than later, but time can be a great healer. Don't keep trying over and over though, this can actually cause more harm than good.
Prepaid cards are great. I have one with Payplan, and one now with O2.
However, you do have to be an O2 customer to have one of those.
