Hi All,

Just wondering....what happens to your IVA once your full and final settlement offer gets accepted? Will creditors start contacting me again?

I've got my creditors meeting next Tuesday so not really sure what the procedure is whatever the turn out - can anyone advise?

xx

Hi Vicki

Once F&F accepted, I wouldn't expect creditors to contact you at all - the admin should continue to be dealt with by your IP's office.

Good luck for the meeting.

Thanks Debtwitch...Its just I've heard all sorts of horror stories where creditors are calling people who have finished their IVA's chasing for outstanding money. I assume it's because you are not legally protected by the IVA anymore?

chasing money that doesnt belong to them is exstortion they could go to jail for that.if any one rings you demanding money, after your iva is complete, ask for their name and company then pass the details on to the police, thats what i would do.

The police will not want to know Ronald. It is not extortion at all. The most it would be is harrassment.

It is unlikely to happen, but sometimes the right informations doesn't get passed on straight away.

Don't worry about it, they can't do anything at all.

The IVA will be on your record for 6 years from the date of the IVA, regardless of when it is completed. You can, however, contact any creditors who have defaulted you after the date of original acceptance, and tell them to remove those defaults. They are not allowed to do it.

Other than that, things like mortgage, bank account, mobile phone accounts, will all go towards improving your credit rating.

Harrassment isn't good, but sometimes these things take a little time - it doesn't happen often and I doubt the police would be interested in it.

To be honest, if it was me, I had completed my IVA and had the letter to prove it, they could do their worst.
