hi,
just wanted to write my first post to say I have contacted Melanie Giles and have an telephone appointment with Tina tommorrow.
I am very scared and I feel so foolish that I have let things get soo bad.... I do want to sort this out but I feel I may have let it get too far and I should have plucked up the courage many months ago.
I already have a DMP with payplan but it became apparent very soon that this would not solve my problems and as my nature I soldiered on regardless.....
I have missed 6 months mortgage problems and secured loan payments and have moved out into a rented house with my family and am in the process of having my home repossed no court docs yet just lots of final demands! (cant blame them its all my fault).
Part of me wants to run away n hide and not tell anyone my shamful secrets but I know they will track me down as only yesterday a man representing Picture Financial turned up at my rented house......
Hi Freddie
Firstly welcome to the forum, I hope you find it useful and the guys here are very supportive.
Being in debt is scary and having someone knock on your door is certainly something that is worrying however you have done the right thing by seeking help and I know you are in very safe and capable hands with Melanie.
Always remember, if you do have any questions or queries, do not hesitate to ask. You do not need to face this alone.
Hi Freddie
Reading the first couple of paragraphs of your post, I got a sense of deja-vu. That is exactly how I felt as well and I suspect the vast majority of people here will have felt the same, so you are not alone. We are all here to support each other and no one will judge you
So please, try and not let the feelings overwhelm you, instead give yourself a pat on the back for deciding to do something about it, I know how hard that is. I put it on par with how hard it was for me to quit smoking
Tina was my 1st contact with Melanie's team also and let me say, you are in VERY good hands. Tina (and all of the team) I dealt with were 1st class. I do not have 1 bad word to say about them. So that will be one thing less for you to worry about (see it's getting better already)
The only thing I will say, is now you have made the decision, be 100% honest with Melanie and the team. They are there to help and they will do their best for you and your family
Good luck on the first call, and do keep up the posts and let us know how it is all going
There are 10 kinds of people that understand binary, those that do and those that don't
There is absolutely no need to be scared - Tina is a very experiened debt counsellor and will take you through all of the options available to you so that you fully understand each one.
It doesn't matter how long this takes - and I promise that you will feel much better having offloaded some of this burden onto ourselves.
Once you have decided on a solution, you will start to feel positive again - confident in the knowledge that you are on the right track to getting your creditors repaid. And don't worry about the secured creditors. Those shortfalls will form part of the IVA in any case, so don't worry too much about that right now.
Thank you for all your support and kind words.
The thing that keeps me going is at christmas I know it will be all sorted and although not our usual extravagant xmas it will probably be the best one in years....just knowing we have dealt with our problems!
Please try not to worry, I know it is easy to say, but believe me, all of us have been there. It feels like all is a mess and will never be sorted out. But from the reviews I have read about Melanie and her team it looks like you are in really good hands, they will support you and help you along the way.
There will be tough times, nervousness and panic attacks until your IVA is approved, but just remember it will get better.
The worst is over, admitting its out of control, it will get better and better each day.
Freddie you have gone to an excellent firm with a great reputation on here.
Melanie and her team will sort you out.
Did you ask Payplan about swapping over to an IVA?
If an IVA is not viable, now that you have given your home up, you could consider bankruptcy.
Tina will sort you out and advise you as to all the options available.

Hi Freddie
a few weeks ago i spoke to tina and went through things. My feelings were identical to yours, dont be afraid to ask if youre unsure.
Tina normally tells me things 3 times before they make any sense.
Youll find the more knowledge you gain from tina and co and this forum then the more confident youll become about the situation youre in.
weve got our final phone interview tommorow and im no longer phased by the unknown.
youll be fine dude.
I can only agree with the others. The worst is actually over as you have lost your property which is what most clients fear the most. From here on you must do what is best for your family and you are with an excellent firm who can give you all your options.
Hi, My partner and I also contact Melanie and her team and have just started down the IVA route. Wanted to wish you all the luck in the world. Last weekend was the first time I have slept properly in months and I am feeling so positive. I know it is not going to be easy over the next 5 years if we get accepted but the fact that we will be living without cards and overdrafts is so fantastic I am genuinely looking forward to it!!
You have made the best decision Melanies team are beyond words!!My mess was very out of hand and after the first call to Tina I felt more annoyed WHY didn't I call them sooner. Not one of Mels team EVER judged my level of debt all they wanted to do was find a solution and boy did they!!
hi Markyb how are things with you,we talked awhile ago (I was Whetlor then ) hope all is well with you
Well Jan aren't they just!! not one of them ever judged my level of debt even though I did it myself everyday ,I have to say the inital phonecall is nerve racking but Tina(bless her)just gets on with the job at hand
Freddie hinsight is a wonderful thing the most important thing is that you are doing something about your problems now[^]
I know Jan,Tina sent me an email after I was approved and that made it feel more real!I had been with another company and I really did feel like a number but the whole way through my experience with Melanie and her team I really felt as if they had my best interest at heartand boy I am so glad I changed
