I just feel that if you sign up expecting a jaguar and then later the goal posts move and you end up with a lada then that surely can't be right.

I must admit that I did sign up to the Jaguar, and as it stands at the moment, that is what I will be getting.

I agree if you get back what you expected then that is right but if things are changed then it isn't really fair

Unfortunately, that's the way of things at the moment - I should get back what I expect, but who knows what will happen.

A lot of companies are changing the goalposts at the moment.

A sign of the times.

I'm a union rep, actually I'm vice president of a union!

Pension schemes are optional when you start with an employer, and you should recive a pension statement anually. No one is forced to join.

The scheme can change from year to year, and the union always fights the corner to get the best benefits for it's members. I suggest you contact either a Pension Trustee for advice, or your local rep who can put you in contact with a Union Rep specialising in Pensions.
Life is a rollercoaster, we just have to ride it!

iva approved. 5 down 55 to go

a pension statement is not the same as a terms and conditions agreement, ive written to my pension fund for their terms and conditions i suspect because they constantly change them these days, the ink wont have dried before they have to update the rules,i understood that margaret thatcher brought in opt out rules for pensions,my membership started before then, 31 years later still waiting for terms and conditions.

I also get an annual statement, and I'm pretty sure at the moment that it is an accurate reflection of what I can expect to receive.

We are pretty much kept in the loop if things change.

I must admit that I take no notice of any pension schemes other than the one I am in, and they haven't changed the goalposts about that at all - but then there is no chance of redundancy and the ages for retirement are still the same as when I orignally joined.

I wish!

We still have the 85 rule as long as the firm is happy for you to go, otherwise for people over a certain age it is 60, otherwise 65.

They also do a flexible retirement, so you can retire, take your pension, and then return to work.

Although why anyone would want to do that is beyond me!

That I don't know. It's not something I've looked at.
