I have moved in with my girlfriend after a considerable time together and she has a son who im obviously close to and to be honest i want to do dad things !! A bit of pocket money and the odd treat, is there any provision in IVA'S for things like this ? He is still at school but he is expencive and i feel its unfair to expect my missus to pay for everything for him .

If you are living with your girlfriend this would be a total change of circumstances your IP should be aware. A new income and expenditure would be required and allowances are made for children.

If however, you are only paying rent and not combining your incomes this would need to be pointed out to the IP. Your housekeeping allowance could be adjusted upwards if you do spend money on the child and you should speak to your case worker who could advise better.

To be honest we are renting a house together and ive let my flat out which covers my half of the rent on the place with my girlfriend, the bills we share, im a bit worse of now though than when i started my iva. We don't combine our wages we share the outgoings though. What was the housekeeping facility available ?? What else could i include now my circumstances have changed ? I did mention it breifly to my IP but im holding off till my yearly review as on the whole incomings and outgoings are pretty much unchanged.

It is impossible for us to give you specific advice about your own case, when we do not have full details of your IVA or your current circumstances.

In my experience, there is always a compromise to be reached between complying fully with the IVA, and having a decent family life - and I would hope that your own IP would sensibly help you to review your income and expenditure and try and build in some allowance for you to be a "Dad".

Your girlfriend is lucky to have such a caring partner.

I don't know about caring ... It costs me a tenner for him to go into town for a day with his mates but its worth it ..
