Hi all

Just been on the fone to RTOU and theyve told me that tomorrow they will discharge us early from our BR, cos no creditors have wrote back contesting it!! So they will write to the courts and get us discharged!! WOOOHOOO! Finally a life again!!

Does anyone have any info of what this means for the future? Do we still have to tell people we are BR, when will our credit rating be out of the red iykwim, anything else?

Best thing we ever did, HUGE decision to make, but worked out the best.

Hi
Well done,that is good news.
A record of your bankruptcy will be on your file for six years from the date that you were declared bankrupt. You should declare the fact that you were bankrupt if asked, some insurance companies will ask this question.

i went bankrupt yesterday, i think it was the best thing i have ever done in a sense, when you say the creditors did not contest it, what did you mean by that, can the disagree with the courts then?

You are automatically discharged at one year post BR. But if your conduct is good then it is possible for you to be discharged at 6months, but the OR has to contact ur creditors to see if anyone disagrees with it. If they dont then the OR applies to the court for discharge. If they do, i think you have to wait out the full year.

Thanks andy! Been a long time coming!

Great to hear positive stories about bankruptcy. Hopefully such stories encourage more people to petition by removing some of the fears.
