I work for quite a professional company and often they ask me for cheques so i can go on courses. Not sure what I will say to them! If i go to the coop bank can they write come kind of bankers cheque for me. I didnt want to tell people in family about this or they could write me one. Id hate to tell people at work im insolvant.

Are their banks that let you keep a cheque book. Or any alternatives? About three times a year Im asked for cheques for professional fees/courses

Couldn't you transfer the money electronically instead? Cheques are rarely used by individuals these days, but you ought to be able to get a counter cheque at the bank if this is absolutely essential.

You should have no problem in getting a counter cheque from your own bank.

Do all banks write counter cheques for free? I know Nationwide do, but I don't know if they all do it.

If you change your bank account before starting down the IVA route, you may be able to get a full account with cheque book at your new bank.

If you are on a DMP then your bank account should be ok. You will be able to conduct it as normal.

We changed our account to Barclays prior to entering a DMP initially and we had a full account with cheques and we wrote these no problem.

HSBC just shut down the accounts of people in IVA's.
