My IVA was agreed and started at the end of Dec 08 (nice christmas present?!). During the proposal and after i keep being told if any creditor contacts me the iva and debts are written off. This advice also came from my IP holder. I had a barrage of abuse from one creditor jan to feb this year which the IP had to 'speak' to three times, I've now been phoned by another. My IP will not even enter into conversation when I mention the previous advise. Is there any truth to the advice? I understand my IP would be sheepish as it may well mean they wouldn't get their fee? Where do I stand?
Hi Jenny - it is usual for creditors to contact you at the beginning of an IVA, normally until word filters through to the right department. I have never heard of debt/IVA being written off because you get a call from a creditor!
If you get calls/letters just refer them to your IP.
Hi, when i first started my IVA, if i got any post etc i informed them i was in an IVA then posted the letters off to the IP, dont worry about it if it was accepted and is listed as one of your creditors within your IVA
You debts will not be written off due to creditors contacting you but your IP should be able to prevent this from happening. Take a note of times that you are contacted and infrom whoever it is that you will be reporting the fact they have called you.
Who is your IVA with, because it sounds like they told a little porkie??
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
Your debts will be written off at the end of your IVA provided you have kept to the terms of payment etc. Who is the firm you did your IVA with?
