If you are considering an IVA, and you have approached Melanie's company, then I wouldn't do anything about my creditors until you have spoken to her.
If the company take you on, then all that sort of thing will be dealt with by Melanie's team.

I've just emailed her all my account numbers, figures etc so she's got everything beforehand.
I appreciate that it will be the last thing on anyones mind when faced with the possibility of insolvency, but it is always worth avoiding sending sensitive financial details by email. We may not have much cash££ for anyone to play with, but the wrong individuals can do terrible things with information that goes astray. I know that when I am passing my details on, I will send the nonsensitive stuff by email and the rest verbaly.
[8)] Sorry to preach but I know how easy it is to access unencrypted email [8)]
I've only just clocked that bit. There is no way I would ever send account numbers by email, it is so easy for someone else to read them.

I agree it's a risk, but she asked for them by email and I just did it. That never occurred to me. Ah well, it's done now.
I won't bother going to the bank then, but I think I ought to go the other loan company, because they said I might be able to forget this months payment (the one that was returned)....
Hi Melanie, I appreciate that you may have secure systems within your office. But this does nothing to protect the data as it travels through various servers to reach your environment. No financial institution would ever accept any customer data being transmitted by email as it is well known how easily the contents are read during the message routing. I'm not attempting to scare monger - just want people to be aware as I am due to being responsible for these systems at work.
Any how I don't want to detract from the topic at hand, which is more important to most people so will leave it to everyone's own discretion.
Thanks for the advice GS. I will certainly get my team to bear that in mind in future. I would hate our system to be the one to cause a personal security scare.
As someone who works with data and the transfer of regularly...I accept there are always security issues. However, lets not be alarmists about this...the norm is most data will get to its destination safely.
I must admit that I'm paranoid about security on the computer. I've got that much anti spyware, virus etc stuff on it!

Agree that there is plenty of opportunity to be paranoid about security (and I probably am [:p] ). However it is not alarmist for people to be aware that unencypted email is easily read by others.
When anyone sends an email, it is routed (SMTP) via a server, which invariably has logging e.g. SMTP logs. Those people entrusted with administration of these servers can see the contents of email messages. It is highly unlikley that anything malicous may happen to anyones email. However I would still choose not to leave it to chance with data I personaly feel is sensitive.
Well I've spoken to someone on the phone today. I don't have enough disposable income to do an iva. I have been advised that bankruptcy is my best option. After thinking it through, and getting some fantastic advice, I have decided to go ahead with it.
I'm a single parent, and work part time. Apparently, they can't take tax credits into account so it looks as though I won't have to pay anything towards my debt, because my salary isn't much. Also, the court fee will be reduced because I'm on working tax credit.
My court date is Thursday 19th March and I'm actually looking forward to it. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders[:)]
I'm waiting for the forms to come now, so that I can get stuck in. I've decided not to pay a penny to my creditors from now on...I feel a bit 'free' already, if that makes sense...? I know there's a way to go yet though.
Glad you are getting somewhere lastresort. Its funny how a thing like a BR hearing can actually cheer you up,its then that your realise how bad you problems had become without you noticing.
