morning hope everyones ok !
just had my early morning wake up call from mercers.
i was very happy to tell them i was accepted for an iva on monday.
they asked what an iva was ???
just spent 15 mins explaining-quite happy too since they were paying for the call.
they then explained they would then take debt collection measures-i told them i was happy for them to do that as they were only wasting their own time and money doing so-the call rep wasnt sure what to say after that [:D]
i then said the info for the iva hadnt filtered down to them yet but they would know in time and if they had any further queries to contact my ip's office.
he then said we arent allowed to contact them so can you make a payment today ?
ER THANKS BUT NO THANKS !
i feel better already and im not scared to talk to these guys anymore [:D][:D]
I had exactly the same thing yesterday...I explained the situation to them and they still asked 3 times " do you have your card to make a payment today"
They also said due to data protection they werent allowed to contact my IP.
I also commented on the number of calls (I had six in the space of 3 minutes until I answered!!) They told me they was automated.....
this guy didnt mention data protection-just said they didnt have the facilities to call-must be using prepay phones !-sorry ! [:D]
they cant knock me off my cloud nine im floating for a while !
they have a target to reach, more often than not people pay up, even when there's no good reason for them to so.
It highlights some of the broader issues that are discussed here about our way of life and how much has to change.
The banks are ultimately responsible for there's and everyone else’s demise.
You can't help people aspiring to a higher quality of life than they can afford, but you can be a prudent and responsible lender.
I remember a year ago on one of last year’s IVA debates a member of the panel, representing the banks pompously going on about 1/2 percent of the market this and that, and the robustness of the UK economy, and bankruptcies being within reasonable limits. Well this is the conceited attitude that got us where we are now...
I just don’t know how I could see this coming and he couldn’t..
I don't know why they can't stop the calls, coz since my "Phone Truce" they haven't contacted me, and they said they wouldn't for 10 days. That runs out on Mon 5th Jan 2009, so I can expect an early morning call then.
Yep- this particular bank which hassles me on a daily basis(even all over xmas period) asked if I was still using the card- I said I cut it up in August. She asked if I wanted a replacement sent as she could get me an extension on the account!!!!!!
So obviously did not understand anything I had told her re the IVA application and totally ignoring what had got me in this mess in the first place!!
Well done FD! As you rightly said to them, the info won't have filtered down to them yet, but you said all the right things to them. It's a great feeling isn't it?
If they persist in phoning again, I would firstly phone Mels office and tell them, and I would also tell them that what they are doing is now illegal and they cannot ask you for money or hassle you on the phone.
