Hi, I have been in iva for 3 years now my partner and i are planning to get married next year this will not incur any cost to me. Will us getting married affect my partner in anyway? i.e will she be liable for anything should in the unlikely event anything go wrong with my iva? will her finances be taken into consideration with my iva? I am quite worried that it may affect her. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi paul and welcome to the forum

Your IVA should not affect your partner, in that she will not be liable for any of the debts in the event of a default by yourself. If you are not living together as a couple at the moment, but will be after your marriage, your IP will need to reassess your income and expenditure, and your partner's wages will be taken into account for the purpose of this exercise - but only to ensure that you are both paying a fair share towards the household expenditure.
