In the next couple of months, my partner is due to move in with me.
We have agreed for her to contribute to household bills and council tax, etc, but I feel this amount is a very personal thing. Different couples have different feelings about such things, and I certainly don't expect to charge her a 'rental' contribution, as such.
I have read some older posts in which people speak of splitting bills in accordance with each other's salaries (eg. if I earn twice as much as her, she'd pay 33% and I'd pay 66%).
Are there any rules, or will the IP accept that if we've agreed on a certain amount, then that's that? I certainly do not want my partner to have to give any information whatsoever to the IP - why should she? They are my debts.

You will need to discuss this with your IP, but if I were acting for you I would expect to see her paying her fair share, and the fairest way is for her to pay a percentage based upon your respective incomes.

And your partner does not have to give any information to your IP, but you do if your circumstances change.

Thanks Melanie - so to clarify, she wouldn't have to speak to - or give any details to - my IP, but of course I'd have let them know what we've agreed on as her contribution to the household?
