I've previously asked whether personal tax could be included in an IVA and been told that yes it can.
The company i'm dealing with to either arrange a Debt Management Plan OR IVA are now saying that Personal Tax can only be included within an IVA if you're lucky enough to be registered for Tax with specific Tax Offices. Is this true?

From what I hear, I believe it is true. Hopefully we can get a response from an expert to make sure.

If you owe Tax HMRC is a creditor just as everyone else is so they go into an IVA. A DMP is different, however. If HMRC are owed a significant sum then they might not wish to be involved in a DMP.

To get this into perspective, how much do you owe HMRC?

So total debts of £108k?

Would it be a fair assumption that you are in business?

I think I would struggle recommending a DMP as an appropriate solution for that level of debt, unless the £80k represents only a couple of creditors or someone like MBNA were involved in a big way.

I think you should investigate an IVA. Assuming you are in business and based on the level of debt consult an insolvency practitioner who will have a face to face meeting with you.

Who on earth has advised you that personal tax debts only need to be included if they are with certain tax offices? Absolute tosh, and as Ian says I would consult an insolvency practitioner with detailed knowledge of how to present cases for self-employed persons.
