I'm reading the forum as I always do post by post and realise that I get paid on Friday and I know I changed my bank details with personnel at work but now fear they're going to put them in my current account and the money will be swallowed up, they won't let me have it/account suspended. I know this is going to happen with husbands wages on Friday as there is only one person in his company that can change the details and he is on holiday till a week on Monday so 2nd November will be the first wages he gets paid into the new basic account. It won't stop me trying to take his money out as you never know do you? The majority of my debt is with my bank, I've e-mailed personnel today to ask them to confirm to me tomorrow that they have changed my account details as if not I hate to think what will happen to us as we won't be able to afford the mortgage let alone anything else.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi, I have just recently - pre IVA changed my account and I was like you - worried sick that there may be a problem and my wage would go in to the old account. I rang drect to payroll to get clarification that my wages were definately going into my new account.
I agree with dots, get a cheque for your husbands wage, you can pay that into your new account yourself, which means you take control. Is there not another member of staff who can deal with this for you?
Good luck. it's all very nerve wracking this isnt it. I have doubted my own name over this last few weeks. My meeting tomorrow!!!!

Thank you I wonder if that is an option re holding back the wages? The director of the company is the only with access but wonder if anyone else can stop the wages going in? wouldn't matter if he got two weeks the next week, would be so much better than losing a week. I panic easily and can't see the wood for the trees sometimes, thank you for thinking logically for me! I'll have a word with hubby and see if he can do anything. The account isn't actually closed/suspended right now but I know that this week they are being informed who is representing us with a view to proposing an IVA so I guess that by the end of the week they will have suspended the account and possibly my phone calls will start. I will however try to remove his wages if it cannot be stopped. I think that the director will have paid all wages and put a delay on payment for the correct days so it won't be able to be stopped but worth a word in the morning for my husband. Luckily when director is on holiday it's a flat week and any overtime paid when he's back, funny set up I know but it's always been like that.

If the account isn't closed yet, you should probably be ok. My bank didn't close the account till i'd been in the iva for 4 months!
My monthly wage went in a few days after my first call to my ip and I was advised to withdraw £100 to live on for a month as my overdraft was being included. The very next day some very kind soul put my car window through which cost £60 to fix, I then had £40 to live on!
I hope you get it sorted ok.

I think it will be suspended/closed as our overdraft is going in to the IVA proposal. They should receive notification from my IP's office this week that I am entering into an IVA or words similar. Maybe the letter won't hit the right department until Saturday!

The opening of a new non-creditor bank account, and the diverstion of salary payments ought to be done as an absolute priority as soon as you decide to propose either an IVA or a DMP.

I also had this worry about my months wages being credited into my current account instead of my new cardcash account...I was worried sick especially as payroll weren't sure if the details had been changed in time! Luckily the wages were paid into the card cash account.
I had waited way past midnight on internet banking, checking my current account-if my wages had of been paid in there I was hoping to transfer them straight out !

We arranged the bank account as soon as advised (1st Oct) and due to the postal strike things were held up (paperwork), finally got the account opened last week and spent time immediately, cancelling direct debits with my current account and setting up in cash card account. I rang my personnel department but always doubt in my mind that they have done it due to errors in the past, this question should be answered today hopefully when they contact me and if they don't by just before lunch I will contact them. Husband tried to change his but as I said previous, person who does wages is on holiday so arranges wages in advance and delays payment. He's been in this morning and nobody has access to the banking details only him!! I albeit wrongly assumed I had to write to my creditors to inform them of my situation due to having received a template letter. I did enquire when I rang on Friday 'can I write to my creditors now?' to be told we've done it on your behalf. It's just bad luck/timing that we'll possibly be without a week of hubby's wages and nobody's fault but a cummulation of events. Does anyone know if I did have access to the wages on Friday and took them out, bearing in mind I've got an overdraft would I be breaking the conditions of any proposal that is hopefully going to be drawn up? Or indeed breaking the law?

I had an overdraft with my bank which was included in my IVA. I changed bank accounts, notified personnel well in advance, and they still made the mistake of putting it into the old account. The bank had informed me that the account was closed and then wrote to me again informing me that the overdraft had been cleared by my salary going in and that I could still operate the account. Yet they still made a claim through the IVA!!!!!

I am sure someone will advise correctly - but I would go into the bank and close the account. That way, should your company pay the wages into it, it will automatically bounce back to their account and you could then ask them to make a CHAPS payment into your new account. A CHAPS payment is almost immediate. My company did this for me.

You can take the money out of this account at any time, it is your money! And you should still write to your creditors even though your IP will also have sent them correspondence.

Panic over in respect of my wages, finally got confirmation that my wages will be paid into new account on Friday. Hubby's will be luck I guess whether we get them or not! I was worried about taking it as it won't actually be his money I'm taking it will be the overdraft won't it? I realise he's earnt it but theoretically speaking if put in there would only reduce the overdraft.

I will also write to my creditors Melanie as when I asked on Friday, I was told we've done that on your behalf and so I assumed albeit wrongly that I did not need to as well, so I will ensure that is done now too.

After Friday it won't matter as all monies i.e Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit will go direct into the new account and hubby already left his new bank details at work but will also see the guy responsible for paying wages on Monday personally to reiterate how important it is that from now on the wages are paid into new account.
