Hiu fudge dont feel low honey. Go to them on Monday and ask for the manager. tell them you wish to talk in private and get it sorted. Tell them the or has confirmed the money can be taken they dhould know what debits are coming in and that you and your daughter have no money for food or nursery and that they are causing extreme hardship.Stand your ground there is no difference between monday and wednesday if it is a basic account. They cannot withhold money on what they think could happen.
Good luck keep us posted.

Sorry if I am missing somthing here but if the OR tells a bank to unfreeze an account then the bank has to respond. As Andy says if you get no response from the A & L mamager then take it up with their complaints department and I would consider a complaint to the Banking Ombudsman!

Good Luck and sorry to hear of your predicament!

Thanks all - Ray yes that is the case but its up to the bank when they release the money so it doesn't matter what the OR says. The problem is is that the bankruptcy section is on teh phone as it were - when I went into the branch yesterday they said that they had to call this department and they go on what they are being told (no body seems trained on BR in the branches) Is it worth me going into see the manager of the branch when they all seem powerless to do anything about releasing the money - What I do hate is that I get three different stories on the phone - yesterday it was like its fine go and withdraw it, today its no longer you can get it Monday but on Wednesday and they said that they are not certain that no more debits will come through. But Andy if its as you say then can see what is due to come out? As soon as I paid for the item on Tuesday it showed as a deficit on my available balance but it has only gone through today. I have no 15 quid left after buying my food and daugther's nappies and have no means of paying for my bus fare or nursery fees on Monday. Because its all over the phone I feel pretty powerless.

Fudge if their bankrupcy dept says you can have the money can you not get them to ring the branch and confirm with the manager that the money can be withdrawn and give you the name of the manager to ask for when you go to the branch. If you get what I mean.

Hi
Who's money is it Fudge ? Yours
Get into that bank on Monday and be firm but polite and insist that they release your money.Yes they know exactly what has been paid on your card so that is a lame excuse.Make sure you tell them that they are causing you financial hardship.
How much are we talking about ?

Hi
thanks for the advice - Aguise it is the BR bit at Alliance and Leicester that is causing this - they feel that because there has been a payment debit card made on teh account in the last week it is not stable enough and thier arguement is - if we pay you all the money back and something goes through then we are liable to pay for it. Andy, will take your advice, think I will have to phone back the BR bit of A&L as the manager in the branch on Friday said I don't authorise withdrawrals only the BR bit in Leicester do - I simply do what they tell me to - but you are both right it is my money - around 400 quid! the rest of my wages for this month so not a small sum.

Chocolate (and in my case Jack Daniels) always helps ... we often console one another at the crem with chocolate when the going getts tough with us ... the organist made herself sick on the after eight mints I bought her a few weeks ago! [:)]

At least you know we'll all be rooting for you on Monday Fudge!

Hi Fudge, sorry, I've been away for a few days and have only just seen your post. I can't add anything to what the others have said, but I just wanted to say good luck tomorrow. I think the way they are treating you is disgusting and I hope you get this sorted out. I'm sending you a big hug x

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Thanks Skips and Soulgrowth - feel utterly fed up today, just feel as if the BR should have been the end of it and its not. Blah blah having one of those days. Thinking about Xmas and have got a load of stuff out of the cupboard to sell on ebay so at least i should be able to buy some xmas presents just peeved off everyone I know seems to have money and I wonder where I went wrong - I know this of course - but not helped by the fact I have 15 quid left in my purse and 400 quid in the bank that I can't get to. I am going to call the national debtline tomorrow and see if they have any legal advice about what to do - the A&L call centre the BR dept of it is housed by monkey's it seems who don't seem to give me a straight answer ....

Hi Fudge did you get everything sorted out yet? I only asked as I have just gone BR and may have the same problems. My wages are due to go in my A&L Basic account on the 31st Oct next week. I also have direct debits set up with them as well. The OR has sent a fax to them to release my wages to me as soon as they go in.

I have cancelled most of my direct debits now via each crediter except two who say I need to contact the bank about these. So I did this today and they say I need to write to them or visit the bank with my details. So I am sure that I will be having the same problems as you did soon. Wish me luck!!!!

I have also opened an account with Thinkbank and received my bank account Number and sort code, as they told me I had been excepted on the phone I decided to set up some of my direct debits in readiness for my next months wages. I have now found out that I should not have done this until my Thinkbank Card came through. Why oh Why do they make life so difficult for BRs. It seems that they all want to knock you down, and then when you go to get up, kick you in the teeth just for good measure.

There was me thinking I was doing so well!!!

No OR meeting date yet they will ring me next week when they have all the paperwork.

Life goes on I supose but why can't it be easy for a change.
