If you do a Full and Final IVA how long does your name remain on the register? [?]

Your name should come off immediately that the supervisor files a certificate of completion

Good morning,

Records of IVAs are kept on a public register. To find out if someone has an IVA, records can be searched by anybody including members of the public either in person, by post or by fax. A copy of the search form can be printed from the website below or you can ask the Insolvency Service to send you a form. Your IVA will remain on the register until it is completed or terminated.

Your details will be removed from the register when your IVA completes but your IVA will remain on your credit file for 6 years from the start of the agreement.

Once your Full and Final offer has been accepted and you have received a certificate of completion, your details will then come off the Insolvency register.

However Oliver makes a good point that the IVA will still remain on your credit report for the 6 year period.

This is really unfair. Surely the notice on the credit reference s should be enough. Yes an IVA is not quite as public as bankruptcy but the information can leak out during the agreement. You won't be able to the genie back in the bottle.
It's not just that people know about your indebtedness that's the problem they record your date of birth and last known address.

I don't know why this part of the process. What purpose does it serve? Potential lenders and business investors can get warnings from credit references. The man on the Clapham omnibus has no business knowing about your IVA unless he is your IP.

I didn't even know the register existed until I found this forum!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Good point from Scaredkez, the insolvency register is virtually unknown to the general public who have not become insolvent. Until I worked in this industry I was also unaware of the registers existence.
