Good advice Skippy! I think the secrecy around insolvency builds up fear in people and talking about it makes it seem far more normal (for want of a better word). x

Yeah, the OR part is the only bit i'm unsure about. From reading up on other people's experiences, it all seems to depend on who you get on the day as to what they'll allow & what they won't, which seems wrong to me.

Some people get a holiday & pet fund, some don't. What's reasonable to one isn't to another & so on. Luck of the draw i guess, i hope i'm due some!

Should be ok with the interview, my debts are simply from overspending & juggling cards & loans without thinking about the long term implications. I haven't been investing it in William Hill or buying crack so i should be ok!

There is some inconsistency with OR examiners, but be prepared to stick to your guns with regard to your expenditure and fight your corner. If you disagree with their rulings, you can always take the matter to Court - and most OR offices would prefer not to have to go to the expense of that process and tend to accept most things so long as they appear to be reasonable.

Well, after another few days of deliberations, i've just applied for an IVA! I just don't want a BR on my name quite frankly, so i'm viewing it as a final solution should all else fail. At least i still have the option should an IVA be rejected, or fail or whatever.

Another creditor call today, & another sympathetic one. Agreed to cease all communication for 40 days & wished me luck.

Went through Vincent Bond, spoke to Andy Davie a couple of weeks back & decided to go with their proposal.

Thanks everyone. This board has been a great help, really wish i'd found it a lot earlier. Still, onwards & upwards.

Yet another creditor call today, and yet another one who was sympathetic to my plight. So far the expected harassment hasn't really materialised, they've all been extremely understanding, which is a great relief.

Hi TM - good to hear your creditors are being sympathetic and you aren't getting the dreaded barrage. It makes the whole process a lot easier. I would get a voicemail from an automated system every 45 minutes from one of mine and another called every Sunday morning at about 8am LOL.

You'll be in safe hands with Andy! I hope the IVA works out for you!! There are often a couple of debt remedies to chose from and you just have to go with gut instinct abot what feels right.

Hi TM - just wanted to say good luck from me, you will be fine with VB & Andy to support you through this.

Keep posting as your journey will help others along the way.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X
