I'll support you Melanie all the way. Like I said above it was my one thing I didn't like about being in the IVA and coming off the register was a big deal to me.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Me too, I would just like to know one question, what IS the purpose of us all being listed on there, what benefit does that have for society? or for anyone for that matter? as I honestly can't see the reasoning behind it, apart from it being a net we're all caught it to be targeted by unscrupulous companies like Tyler Morgan Claims

There does appear to be very little point in it.

Hi

If someone were to take a financial risk on an unknown person say pay up front for a service give a deposit or lend someone money, rent someone a property, do a person check on creditworthy is the register then not a useful tool to do an insolvency check, is not that the purpose it is there?

Quite possibly, Major -- but how many outside of the industry know it's there, and those legitimately within the industry have access to the CRA's (and pay for the priviledge). And, much like the other registered referred to earlier, it only records those "caught" in the net, not those at risk of offending.

To me its just as easy to throw these damn letters in the bin, at the senders cost not mine, along with all the other rubbish that comes through the door, which if the insolvency register is stopped the other rubbish will still come in, I dont want any letters but I have no right to say others should not have them, its the texts I get on my phone telling me I can write off debt I cannot pay which annoy me more and calls from India call centers selling English company services, I would like stopped.

To me, they are no different than the leaflets I get from the local takeaway -- there is plenty of room in my council provided recycling box.

But the leaflets from my local takeaway aren't addressed to me personally unlike the rubbish from the ambulance chasers. The other annoying thing is that firms like Tyler Morgan don't respect the MPS.

At the moment I seem to get at least one text message a day offering help to clear my debt. Where they got my Mobile number from I don't know?
Have no regrets, the future is ours!

Anything of that nature addressed to me is shredded and ends up in the same bins anyway, Skippy -- if they want to waste their money that's their problem. I still get far less spam mail that I did credit card statements !!!

Its not that they got your number, its possible millionaires are getting similar texts, they are doing this on mass, companies like Tyler Morgan are targeting potential clients on the register because they are or were known insolvents, who most likely have PPI claims these marketing companies are texing everyone not yet known to be insolvents with a view to sell details to the IVA companies, they are encouraging people with debts to have them wiped whether affordable or not similar to claims companies encouraging people to claim not when they have been injured just if they have had an accident.

I am getting fed up of the 20 or 30 emails I get a week all asking me to contact them to clear my debts ! Along with the text messages for PPI claims etc .......

I will support anything to stop the unsolicited mail / communications coming through day in day out - having been debt free for over two years now I continue to feel like I a hounded by the past !
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !

I am registered with both the Telephone Preference Service and Mailing Preference Services, as was registered throughout the IVA.

This company, despite being told to update their records to remove my details have contacted me three times.

2 times during the IVA, where they obtained my details from the insolvency register no doubt (But did not clean it against the MPS suppression file) and a further time after completion of the IVA telling me my credit file may need to be sorted out.

I am very familiar with how credit files work, I've worked in that industry for a number of years before I entered a IVA. There is nothing you cannot do yourself armed with the 3 CRA files from Experian, Equifax and Call Credit and knowledge of how data must be accurate up to date and kept for no longer than is necessary.

Use of old Insolvency Service Databases to target those people who have come off the insolvency register within the space of 12 months to target them for credit file clean up is a breach of the Data Protection Act.

If you want to clean up your files, you should not pay any one person to do this, it's something you can do yourself. There are standard template letters on here somewhere that will help you get hold of your credit file and correct anything that is wrong.

I do concur with what was said about Equifax using the Notice of Correction to record details of a IVA being removed, so this is something to be extra cautious about, as was quite correctly stated this can hang around long after the IVA is completed.

Hope some of that was helpful.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Surely as this company (and others) is obviously breaching the MPS guidelines then something can be done about them? I thought the TPS and MPS could act if this happened.
